Hi Dan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After 30 years in the corporate world, I was looking for a franchise opportunity that could not only fulfill my business goals but also help the most amount of people as possible. My wife and I looked at dozens of different opportunities but ended up deciding on HomeSmiles.

It simply was unlike anything else in the home maintenance space. We help homeowners and property managers keep their investment in tip top shape, all in one visit.

We opened for business in July of 2024 and are excited for what’s to come!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course it has not been an easy road. The HomeSmiles brand is fairly young (2018), so the name is not yet known in the marketplace. Early on there was a ton of “pounding the pavement,” getting to know apartment and property managers as well as local realtors.

The homeowner marketplace is a little different, including a lot of marketing via social media (Facebook, Instagram, Nextdoor, Yelp, etc.) and SEO/SEM.

Getting traction is something that just takes time. Every service completed leads to referrals via word of mouth or online reviews, and repeat business with the apartment managers and realtors happens once they’ve seen what a difference we can make with our services. I expect things to get smoother as we keep iterating and word continues to spread.

HomeSmiles of Cincinnati is unique in that we provide so many different services, all in one van, that keep homes and apartments safe and livable.

We provide services like window cleaning, gutter cleaning, dryer vent cleaning, pressure and soft washing, smoke alarm/carbon monoxide detector service, garage door maintenance, small tree trimming, water heater draining/flushing and so much more to our clients. They can pick a package that suits their needs or simply do something on an “a la carte” basis. And because we have such a diverse amount of services, we can save them money by not having to call multiple vendors for all the different things their property may need.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We work with not only the homeowners, property managers and realtors but also other small businesses in the Greater Cincinnati area. For example, a remodeling contractor may not want to do all the post-construction cleanup required after a job, so we are happy to partner with them and provide that service for their clients. We also belong to local business support groups like BNI to find like-minded entrepreneurs to partner with.

In addition to that, we partner with local charitable organizations to give back to the community. We donate our services for raffles and auctions so people can see that we’re a part of the community that wants to make Cincinnati a great place to live.
