Nicole, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up immersed in design as the daughter of an interior designer. Our home was a canvas of creativity, with rooms constantly being transformed. Wallpaper, a hallmark of the ’90s, captured my heart early on, and I still believe every home benefits from its charm and personality, except no duck borders, those can stay in the 90s.
After a successful career in the makeup industry, where I mastered the art of enhancing beauty, I transitioned from painting faces to designing spaces. Joining my mother’s interior design business, Lloyd Design Team was a natural step, blending my creative flair with her expertise. Together, Cathi and I create and deliver stunning interiors that reflect our client’s unique styles and elevate their living spaces.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting in a new business always comes with a learning curve, and interior design was no exception. Even though I grew up in the design world—surrounded by people, suppliers, and the inner workings of a design business—running a business firsthand is a different experience.
Balancing creativity with project management, timelines, and budgets presented challenges early on. However, my familiarity with the industry gave me a solid foundation, and I quickly adapted to the nuances of managing client relationships, sourcing materials, and coordinating with vendors. Each challenge has been an opportunity to grow, refine my skills, and deepen my passion for creating beautiful spaces.

In the design business, what matters most to me is how a home makes you feel. It’s about crafting spaces that reflect who you are, filled with warmth, love, and comfort—a place where you truly feel “at home.” Seeing our clients experience that joy is what drives my passion for design.
In my personal life, my husband of 13 years and our three incredible children are my greatest treasures. Being a mom is my favorite job in the world, and my family is the heart of everything I do. They inspire me daily and remind me of the importance of creating spaces that nurture love and connection.
