Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Fellenbaum.
Hi Rebecca, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The seeds for my coaching practice were planted in 2018. It started with a phone call. My four-year-old son was acting out at camp (and it wasn’t his first time getting in trouble). His punishment was to sit on the sidelines during outdoor playtime. I found it ridiculous and was personally offended. “No one understands him but me,” I thought, feeling alone. It was a familiar feeling. Despite following the advice of parenting experts, I felt like a failure. As the tears flowed a voice told me: “The work is within you.” Oh no, I thought. I don’t want to go there. It took me more than a year before I was ready. The turning point came during the COVID-19 lockdown. I was sitting in my room crying with the kids downstairs and my husband home thinking, “I cannot do this.” I did not know how to get through the day with my sanity intact. Their time at school had been when I recharged and worked.
One respite during lockdown was that my husband and I prioritized separate daily walks. I went for an hour, then he went for an hour. I had heard of The Adult Chair podcast around the time I got so upset about the preschool camp. I wasn’t ready then, but I hadn’t forgotten. I started listening from the beginning. I journeyed back with the host, psychotherapist Michelle Chalfant, to the beginning, put my headphones in, walked, and listened. Her messages of self-love, listening to my intuition, and meeting my many egoic parts hit just right. I found myself on a healing path.
The calling to become a coach came to me during a meditation in March 2023. Like the voice years earlier telling me to go inside, this voice told me: “You can follow this dream.” I reached out to Michelle’s team. Six weeks later I was at the coaching certification retreat and have never looked back.
In November 2023, I became a Certified Adult Chair® Coach. Since then, I have built my practice, guiding clients virtually worldwide and in person. I am holding out my hand to offer guidance and provide my services to those who wonder if they too will have the chance to meet and listen to their inner voice.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Looking at it now, I see my challenges were learning opportunities. It didn’t always feel that way. I’m grateful for my family’s support and the flexibility to chase my coaching dream. Everything falls into place as I keep my ‘why’ front and center. The biggest struggles are internal. I needed to confront my inner critic and wrestle with imposter syndrome. I connected with the tender younger parts of me who felt alone and like a failure. Doing my own work has been hard but it’s because I’ve been there that I can fully support my clients.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Rebecca Fellenbaum Coaching?
As a Certified Adult Chair Coach, somatic life coach, and intuitive guide, I work one-on-one with clients to help them uncover their true selves. I specialize in helping fellow moms who’ve “made it” on the outside feel great about themselves on the inside so they can enjoy their lives, kids, and families. I offer one-on-one coaching virtually worldwide and in person in Cleveland, Ohio. The Adult Chair model is powerful, incorporating a wide range of transformational tools to help clients create a roadmap for life. I empower my clients to feel confident and live authentically. Through personalized and experiential coaching, they understand how their experiences have shaped them, gain self-awareness, improve relationships, and learn how to respond to life healthily.
I have been there. I felt disconnected, which made it hard for me to fully enjoy my family. When my kids triggered me (which was often), I blamed myself. I hid my negative self-talk behind a facade of perfection – staying fit and healthy, keeping a nice home, doing all the right things for my kids, staying on top of my career, and being a loving wife, daughter, and friend.
It was exhausting and inauthentic. There wasn’t space for me in that scene.
When I started my healing journey, I internalized listening to my intuition and feeling my emotions. I learned to respond, not react. I met my inner child and allowed her to come out and have fun. As I worked on myself, my relationships improved and my perspective changed.
Now, as a life coach, I help people find their inner voice and live authentically. I’ve been there and I’ve seen how we can change and learn to enjoy our lives. I’m here to help you make the changes you need to love yourself so you can care for yourself and those you love.
Using personalized and empowering coaching tools, I will help you trust yourself and listen to your intuition so that you can show up as your best self and truly enjoy your life.
