Check Out Jean Carlos Fontanez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jean Carlos Fontanez

Hi Jean Carlos , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began to preach at the age of 15. At the age of 23 got more involved with the community in Cleveland Oh, I was the founder of a youth ministry and we would help families every month with groceries. This youth ministry would gather around 1,000 people every month, the vision was always to help does that were marginalize by giving them a chance to do what they love for God. I lived in California for about 9 years, was the Senior Pastor (with my wife) of Centro de Restauracion y Salvacion. Our ministry has always been focused restoring families, marriages and the new generation. Moved back to Ohio winter of 2021, had the honor of being the Local Church Pastor at World Harvest Church.

In the present, we have the honor to be the founder and Ministerio Segunda Oportunidad. Through our ministry we have been able to write our first book titled, El Dios de Segunda Oportunidad, where we share with the reader, that its possible to start again, doesn’t matter how much we have messed up in life before, how many mistakes, how many times we have failed, theres always a second chance available for those who really want to try again at life. We share part of our story of how I failed at life, but through perseverance, not giving up on my self and trusting God, I was able to restore my life and today we have been able to help thousands of people get restored, try again and be victorious.

We have traveled to different countries, not just to preach but to also take aid!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been easy, some people wouldn’t want to agree with me but running a ministry is almost as running a business. Lot of tears, many thoughts of, I cant do this. Specially when you make so many mistakes, balancing personal life with ministry can be very tough, if not careful ministry can be easily a 24/7 “job”, visiting the sick at the hospital and because they don’t have family members in the states you stay with them at the hospital for hours.

When I was younger my biggest struggle was balancing personal life and ministry, I was and still am, fully devoted to what I do, but because I didn’t know how to balance it out, I believe I missed out on so many things when it comes to my daughter.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am also the Assistant Director of the International Commission of Chaplains, and the Director for Ohio, we help with any kind of crisis including suicide prevention.

We also offer personal counseling and family counseling. I feel as if my calling, is to help people get back up, i think we live in such a moment where people need to understand that they can try again. And sometimes we just need someone looking from the outside to give us a push. Sometimes it takes a small push and sometimes a big one, we all need a push at some point of our lives.

Most proud of, I can say at this very moment because of everything i had to go through, the different struggles, the ups and downs, i am most proud of being able to write a book that i truly believe will help others see that, you can try again. you can get back up, we all fall but the biggest thing is not to fall in love with the ground.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I was born in Puerto Rico, from the moment I was born i had to deal with different health issues, one of them being epilepsy. I had to deal with it for many years, I could’ve used it as an excuse in life. I learn that nothing outside of you can stop you, you can stop you. What ever you are dealing with, don’t use it as an obstacle. Use it as motivation.
