Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Taylor
Hi Kayla, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m Kayla Taylor, a proud Bond Hill native from Cincinnati, Ohio! My journey has always been rooted in the arts. I attended a performing arts school and was a ballet dancer for 10 years. My early connection to the creative world has shaped my eye for aesthetics and style, and it’s been a driving force throughout my career.
My fashion journey started while studying Fashion Merchandising at Bowling Green State University, where I dreamed of becoming a buyer! After graduating, God had other plans and I began working in retail as a store and visual merchandising manager. These roles allowed me to sharpen my eye for detail and develop a deep understanding of what makes customers feel confident and stylish!
As my career evolved, I transitioned to my current role as a Styling Manager at Stitch Fix, managing a team of 38 stylists. Every day, I can apply my years of experience to help my team curate personalized, head-to-toe looks that make our clients feel like their best selves.
But my love for fashion and beauty didn’t stop there! Outside of Stitch Fix, I’m also growing as an influencer, sharing my passion for skincare, style, and self-care routines on my Instagram (@glowwithkayla__). Through my content, my goal is to inspire others to embrace their natural beauty and prioritize self-care.
I’m excited about where my journey is heading next. I have some exciting projects, including my upcoming Glow-Up Challenge, a podcast, and collaborations with beauty and fashion brands. Stay tuned!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t always been smooth! Growing my career in the retail space has come with many challenges. The fast-paced nature of the business long hours, and constant changes in trends have pushed me to adapt quickly and strengthen my skillset. There have been moments when it felt difficult to balance work, pursuing my passion for fashion, and finding time for self-care.
But those challenges have been worth it! It’s taught me resilience, helped me grow as a leader, and molded me into a better person. Each step in my career, from store manager to visual merchandising and now a styling manager, has built my confidence and prepared me for this new chapter as a growing influencer!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a growing influencer, I focus on skincare, beauty, and self-care, while also showcasing my personal style through fashion. On my Instagram (@glowwithkayla__), I’m known for creating content that promotes natural beauty and encourages my followers to prioritize self-care routines. I specialize in sharing quick and easy skincare routines and sharing beauty tips that are accessible and effective. My “Get Ready with Me” (GRWM) videos are a favorite, as they allow me to blend my love for both skincare and fashion.
What sets me apart is my authenticity and expertise! My background in fashion and retail gives me a unique perspective, and I believe that looking good starts with feeling good. That’s why self-care is everything to me! One of my proudest moments so far is launching my two-part IG Live series with my friend, an aesthetician. We’ve been discussing fall skincare tips, the latest trends, and sharing insights into the pros and cons of the beauty industry. The response has been amazing, and I love engaging directly with my community during these live sessions!
Another milestone I’m excited about is my upcoming Glow-Up Challenge in November! This month-long journey will help my peeps glow inside and out with personalized skincare routines and confidence-building activities.
My influencer journey is just getting started, and I’m most proud of the community I’m building. One that celebrates natural beauty, self-care, and personal style!
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
As someone born and raised in Cincinnati, I love the sense of community here. There’s something special about how close-knit the city feels, especially in neighborhoods like Bond Hill, where I grew up. I also love seeing how we’re growing in the arts. We have a beautiful art scene and you can see it just by walking through Over the Rhine (Downtown Cincinnati). Also, organizations like the Black Design Collective Midwest Chapter are doing amazing work, providing a space for creatives to connect, learn, and grow in the areas of style and design. It’s exciting to witness the local creative scene growing!
That said, I do wish Cincinnati had a bigger fashion presence. As someone who works in fashion and beauty, I often have to travel to cities like New York for more opportunities, whether it’s attending New York Fashion Week or networking with other influencers and brands. I’d love to see more of that here to support designers and creators locally!
