Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristyn Nicole Stanley

Hi Kristyn Nicole, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My passion for photography actually started when I was much younger, and I have had a camera in hand for as long as I can remember, with my first one being a “Nikon Coolpix” in the early 2000s. Since then I had basically become a hoarder of memories throughout my childhood (and still am today if I’m being honest), obsessed with capturing every family vacation, holiday, birthday, and every-day moments in between. I even experienced my first tragic SD card failure while on a family trip to Mexico in the 5th grade, learning the importance of backing up your photos and formatting your memory cards the hard way!

While photography has always been a hobby that has brought me so much joy, it was after the birth of my son & becoming a mother myself that I felt compelled to start helping others document special moments in their lives too, especially other moms. I put out my first “model call” in early 2022, and really hit the ground running from that point on. “Kristyn Nicole Photography” has since grown into more than I ever could have imagined it would be for me, now with a fully booked schedule every month consisting of dream clients who have become such an important part of my life. Getting to document so many unique motherhood journeys, magical newborn features and loving families has filled my life with so much happiness & fulfillment, & being able to call it “work” truly feels like a dream!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to becoming the business owner I am today was certainly bumpy (and still can be a little crazy at times)! I realized very early into my journey that I had a ton to learn as far as running a business goes, and being a one-woman-show meant that I had to learn it all! Investing in education and hands on training in the form of workshops and mentoring made all of the difference in my business, and networking with other women in the industry has also impacted my business & my life in the most positive way. I have learned so much from working with other photographers that I never could have gotten from formal business education.

Trial and error definitely plays a huge factor, as well as continuing to grow and learn, but I feel confident and so proud of the business owner that I have grown into today, with making my clients feel important and providing a stress – free experience being the top priorities.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My photography company, Kristyn Nicole Photography, specializes in newborn photography, motherhood & family photography. There is truly nothing that makes me happier than having the opportunity to document one’s journey from maternity, to their newborn session & all of the milestones afterwards. Seeing the same repeat clients & getting to watch their babies grow is the best part of what I do!

Something that I believe sets me apart from other photographers, specifically for photo sessions involving newborns & young kids, is my ability to let the babies (& toddlers) take the lead, creating a stress-free, relaxed environment for everybody involved. I have a very laid-back approach to newborn & family photography, wanting to capture these special seasons of life as authentically as possible. One of my favorite sessions that I offer is in-home newborn sessions, highlighting the blissful feeling of bringing a newborn baby home to join your family. I aim to come in and capture images that will allow you to revisit these special days & to remember exactly how they felt.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson that I’ve learned along this journey so far, is that the way you make people feel is everything, and this is key to creating life-long relationships! There might always be someone who can deliver a technically better photograph than you, but if you treat people with empathy, make them feel important & provide an enjoyable experience, you will have loyal customers (and friends) for life.
