Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlyn Corrigan
Hi Caitlyn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The Watering Can started back in 2021, but it was a dream that had come to mind years before. I grew up around agriculture and farming my entire life, my family planted large gardens ever since I can remember. One year, my mom and I grew a row of zinnias in our garden and my love of flowers began. Soon after, Covid hit, I was laid off from my job. It just so happened to be around the time when seeds can be started inside. I used my time off work to grow as many flowers as I could. Over the past three years, this business has gone from a small roadside stand to a full business where we are now getting into weddings and special events. I have had a love for farming, flowers and letting my creative side run wild since I was a little girl, and this business gives me the opportunity to do all of that!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been many struggles along the way, including trying to figure out life and what it takes to run a business. I started this business when I was 20. I dropped out of college and started working a couple jobs and tried to get a business started. Everyone else my age was still in school having the time of their lives. Looking back today, I wouldn’t trade the road I took for anything.
I faced struggles when it came to not only being young but a girl and often times not taken seriously while trying to prove to others that this isn’t just a hobby, it is a business.
To this day, it still isn’t a smooth road, but I pray every day that the Lord guides me in the right direction to make this business everything it can be and more.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I grow fresh cut flowers and sell them in bouquets, specialty arrangements, create wedding bouquets and more. We do a little bit of everything, but I love seeing what can be created using flowers. The possibilities are endless!
I am most proud of stepping into the wedding world and creating beautiful pieces for Brides on one of the best days of their life. It truly is an honor to be part of those moments.
This business and I are here for you. I am not going to say I am the cheapest, because I do value the time and work it takes, but I will not stop until you are satisfied. My customers mean the world to me, and I will go to lengths to prove that.
On top of all the growing and arranging that we do, we also host flower arranging workshops, build your own bouquet bars, U-Pick events at our farm and wreath workshops in the winter!
How do you think about happiness?
Being creative. I have always had a wild imagination and being able to create, make or even build something, makes me happy. There is a special kind of beauty in seeing what the mind can come up with and the hands can bring to life.
