Life & Work with Morgan Staten of Cleveland, Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Staten

Hi Morgan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I began my musical and entertainment journey when I was around the age of 6. Having musicians and painters in my family, it wasn’t a shocker that I would have a connection with music. My mother noticed my potential and enrolled me in acting, dancing and singing classes Karamu; an arts camp in Cleveland, Ohio. Later on throughout my teenage years, I modeled in local runway shows, and participated in school plays (dancin and rapping) to test my limits. It wasn’t until my Sophomore year in college that I started recording my art and creating projects. I took that time to learn my sound and create music that I could be proud of while pushing my pen. From then to now, I’m thankful for my music to be received well, because my supporters gave me time and grace to test my creative limits. I love to see the evolution of my music, staying true to myself while working on my craft has been rewarding.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It certainly has not been a smooth road. As creatives we go through ups and downs, self-doubt and a roller coaster of emotions. My main struggle has been finding balance. As a full time mommy while chasing my dreams, I have to sacrifice a lot when it comes to my art. My main focus are always going to be my children, it’s just about finding that solid balance so that I’m happy as well. Every challenge has essentially helped me build character to the point that I can face a barrier and hop right over it. The show must go on!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am primarily a rapper, and my talents are endless. Having that range as an artist, I’m 100% grateful for. I’m great at everything that I do, whether it’s singing, dancing, modeling; I’m giving it my all and I’m naturally good at it. Im known for my fierceness, confidence and passion behind my music. If Morgan Jenaé is dropping something it’s going to be with great quality and charisma! I’m most proud of my authenticity. I stay true to myself no matter what. I have no reason to compete with anyone online or off because I’m so confident in my talents and journey. My eclectic style is what separates me from a lot of artists. You can hear where the inspiration comes from, but you also get to see me turn that into my own sound and style.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Hearing my grandmother sing at my family reunion years ago would be one of my favorite childhood memories. Mattie Staten (Rest in Peace) my grandmother, was a singer. She had her own church choir that she toured with. Everyone always talked about how amazing of a singer she was but I never heard her sing seriously outside of church. When I heard her sing acapella at our family reunion, I seen how she moved the room and had everyone in tears, including myself. She was so courageous, so beautiful and so talented.
