Hi Kara, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It all started with a DIY body butter recipe, I wanted to make different scents but it was too much product for me to use for just myself. I started selling my body butters on Facebook marketplace offering free delivery and I received 4-5 orders the first day! Word spread from my first customers to their coworkers and I was receiving messages for more orders. I decided to make my hobby more official and start a website and a social media page as “Kara’s Vanity”. Over time I gained more customers and got creative with the products and scents I offered and two years later I came up with the new brand name “Lunar Glow Skin Co.” And revamped my product packaging.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been smooth, my second year in business was booming! I thought it was only up from there but the next year was pretty rough, it was hard once I made my business my sole source of income.

Founded in 2019, our shop is woman owned and ran by Kara, an army veteran and skincare connoisseur! She is a licensed esthetician and nail technician with a passion for creating sensitive skincare without sacrificing aesthetic and cuteness. After her own struggle with eczema and sensitive skin, she created her own unique skincare formulas to help others struggling with the same skin conditions.
