Meet Dytanya Allgood of Dy’s Dynasty Hair Solutions Center Inc

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dytanya Allgood

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started braiding hair as a young girl, age 11, I never looked at myself as having a special talent despite being exceptionally creative. It wasn’t until the age of 20 something hit me that this was my calling. It was a reaction from a friend after I finished her hair that gave me that deep profound feeling of passion. I enrolled in hair school a year later. Due to hardship I needed to take a leave of absence, it was incredibly devastating to take the leave but I made the most of it. Durning that 9 month leave so much happened: I birth my brand Dy’s Hair Dynasty Inc. I knew exactly how I wanted to treat my clients, I knew exactly how I wanted them to feel when they entered my world. So I began building my brand one interaction at a time. Also during that time I lost my father to long hard battle of prostate cancer. I remember sitting with myself asking how was I going to respond to this. I decided to use that energy to push even harder. In 2014 I received my cosmetology license and began leaning in on wig making. I received several certifications and loved my progress. Although my clients loved my work and felt empowered and beautiful after leaving my chair. I couldn’t ignore how prevalent hair loss was especially in the African American community. I was only covering up the real problem. So in 2019 I began my studies as a trichologist. I’ve been certified since 2020 and have been in love since. Although I’m still heavily involved in hairstyling, as a trichologist and hair researcher is more fulfilling to me. Being able to bridged the gap of cosmetology and dermatology is what really keeps me going. I want to bring something more meaningful to the salon space. It’s such a vulnerable environment especially when you suffer from hair thinning or loss. I want to normalize these conversations to make hair and scalp care a priority. Im still in the building stage but In my new salon space you can expect a more amplified version of what I just wrote. We touch on all things hair, nutrition and lifestyle to create an environment for your hair to thrive.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being a women entrepreneur and having no role models or anyone to look up to I had to create what success would look like for me and recondition my mind to believe it could happen and I’m worthy of it.

I lost several people on my journey , my best friend being one to gun violence, balancing emotional needs while building a business was extremely challenging for me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Dy’s Dynasty Hair Solutions Center Inc, I specialize in scalp care and extensions. I educate women 35 and older on the importance of having a hair and scalp care routine. As we get older, genetics, hormones, lifestyle and other factors plays a significant role in the way our hair grows. Not only do I offer in-salon services but my system is designed to instill overall wellness and empower women from inside out. I’m most proud that education is the foundation to my brand.

How do you think about luck?
Luck has been very helpful however I believe luck is created. I don’t believe people are selected randomly as “lucky” or not. Your thoughts mold the subconscious mind which is a magnet for your circumstances. The higher quality of thoughts you process the “luckier” you appear. And on the flip side “bad luck” is just an indication your thinking is flawed which is an opportunity for growth. In conclusion both “good and bad luck” has served my business very well.
