Today we’d like to introduce you to Mosant

Hi Mosant, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The band as it exists today came together in the spring of 2022. We started as a project for Chandler (Bass/Vocals) in late 2021 and originally had a different drummer. We wrote and recorded two songs (Critical and (Not The) Only One) with the original lineup. When our current drummer Nathan joined the band in spring 2022, we had already pivoted towards a 4-piece band dynamic with everybody contributing rather than the original plan. We changed our name to Mosant, released the two songs we tracked and started playing shows and writing more music.

In 2023, we finished our first record “Midnight Television” and signed with Sofaburn Records for the release. That fall, we started touring for the first time and have since released the album and toured around the midwest/east coast.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
For the most part, the road has been fairly smooth for us. Right out of the gate, people seemed to be receptive to our music. Sofaburn was very gracious in picking up our first project and venues have been nice enough to have a young band from out of town come through and play.

There have definitely been a few common roadblocks for young bands like transportation issues, interesting show situations, and managing personal lives with the band schedule.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At this moment, we’re most proud of our record “Midnight Television” that came out on May 3rd of this year. We categorize ourselves as a “Power-Pop” band from Cincinnati. We try and set ourselves apart by having duel lead vocals and an emphasis on live performance.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
We try to make sure that everybody has an equal say in decisions within the band and throughout the writing process. We’re all very close friends and that system has always worked for us.
