Community Highlights: Meet Satinder Bharaj of The Sateri Group LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Satinder Bharaj

Hi Satinder, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in a small town in Kenya. I came to the US and did my undergraduate studies as a dual major in Biology and Chemistry at the College of Mount St. Joseph. I did my Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the College of Pharmacy at the University of Cincinnati. I was a Global R&D Manager in Health Care at the Procter & Gamble Company for 27 years. I was on the scientific advisory board on an incubator and it was then when I realized the idea of Alkaline Water.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
A start up is never smooth road. There are many memes and pictures that show the obstacles that one has to go through to come out on the other side. It is the same as life, full of ups and down. Everyone sees the success and think it is easily done, however, reality as I said is up and down, You can have a Great morning and the afternoon can be horrible. Having said all that, I would not trade it for anything. The personal growth in problem solving and celebrating the small wins are immeasurable. We are still in our infancy as far as starting a business from scratch, so there is still a long journey ahead.

We’ve been impressed with The Sateri Group LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Sateri Group LLC is a private startup company located in Hamilton, Ohio. Pahhni Premium Alkaline Water (Pahhni) was founded in January 2021 by my business partner Erik D. Loomis and I. We are both highly experienced professionals who have fortune 50 experience in manufacturing, quality, regulatory and marketing of CPG products. We have lived in the Greater Cincinnati area for the last 40+ years with our families and are happy to call it home.

We had always talked about starting a business together. The growth and scientific advancements around alkaline water made a premium alkaline bottled water an obvious choice. We would have tea quite often and discuss how “Chai Tea” is really “Tea Tea”, since Chai means Tea in several languages. Erik then asked me “How do you say “water” in your native language?” and that’s how Pahhni was born. We added the extra “h” for the “ahh” effect, for example, “tastes Great – Ahh” or “Superior Hydration – Ahh”.

We are proudly manufactured Bottled water in Hamilton, Ohio.

How we are different – In addition to the benefits of drinking alkaline water, Pahhni starts with the best tasting water in the world and makes it a little better. Natural limestone filtration provides a different, and better, process than many competitors in the alkaline water industry which use artificial means such as electrolysis and/or ionization. This natural process is a huge part of the award-winning great taste.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Any business, any idea, anything worth doing is going to take work, a lot of it. Anyone can start a business from scratch, but again, do your due diligence, be flexible to changing with the environment, and trust the process. It is a difficult journey, however, you have to keep pushing and not give up as sooner or later the paths open up. Also – don’t think you have to do everything yourself, folks who have been through the process love to help, pay it forward so to speak, so I would say ask for help, don’t be shy, utilize all the resources available to you. Lastly, you have to go for it, as someone once said, you cannot sit back wait for things to happen, everyday is a new day and a new challenge will present itself, however, if your goal is clear, the opportunities are limitless.
