Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiara Bishop
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hello, my name is Kiara Bishop, I’m a 25 year old dancer/choreographer. I’ve been dancing for as long as I can remember. From creating choreography in the living room with my sisters to creating for my high stepping team in high school. After high school I started attending dance classes, during which, I would promote myself on Instagram as a freelance dancer. Eventually, I grew a clientele, accepting jobs for videoshoots, performances, dance classes, etc.
I started taking myself seriously last year & I’ve been booked every weekend since. Some weekends I would have a booking every day, sometimes even two events in one day. It was so fun until I started realizing I was burning myself out. That taught me how to manage my schedule better so now my bookings are more spread out & manageable.
BoujeeNStilettos is a performance company I’m starting up. Our focus is to help nurture & train other aspiring dancers to become confident & strong performers. Be on the lookout for dance classes. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Creating a business from scratch always has its challenges & being an unsigned dancer is no exception. There’s so much that goes into it like marketing, training, social media management, work life balance etc. Juggling everything is an obstacle within itself but the toughest obstacle that I’ve been working through has been being to open & setting boundaries. Me having a welcoming bubbly personality, it’s easy for me to feel as though everyone around me has the same pure intentions that I do. I’m learning that thats not true. It’s hard trying to navigate that without changing who I am at my core. It’s a working progress but I’m grateful for every experience because every experience is a learning experience.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a dancer who specializes in stiletto dance. Stiletto dance is a style of dance that is performed while wearing high-heeled shoes. This style of dance is often characterized by sharp, precise movements and a focus on footwork and body control. Stiletto dance can be performed to a variety of music genres, including pop, hip-hop, and R&B.
I’m known for my presence on Instagram posting my dance content. I now accept bookings for performances, videoshoots, TikTok dances, etc, all around Ohio. I was even a dancer for Summer Jam & danced on stage with major R&B recording artist, Toosi! That’s my proudest moment. A moment I’ll never forget.
My hard work, dedication, genuine nature & admiration for the things I do sets me apart from any other dancer. Not to mention, my personality, energy & the aura I carry. I wear my passion on my sleeve & approach things in a positive, professional manner which makes me super easy to work with. My clients know they can rely on me to get the job done.
What does success mean to you?
Success to me is achieving your goals. Any goal, big or small, once you’ve accomplished something, you are successful. You just have to keep working hard so success becomes abundant.
