Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheyenne Resch
Hi Cheyenne, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After being in the beauty industry for eight years, I began to feel burnt out. I was going on five years working in a fast-paced salon environment and it just wasn’t for me anymore. Being sent home for three months during the covid lockdown, it gave me a lot of time to reflect on what mattered to me and what I wanted to do for my clients. After all of the uncertainty covid brought, one thing I knew was something needed to change. I wanted to bring a more relaxed, spa-like feel to the salon experience. Clean Curl Studio was born in the fall of 2020.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
After starting my salon studio in October 2020, I found out I was pregnant. This meant less than a year later I would be putting my brand new business on hold, which was a really scary thought. Would I have clients when I returned? It meant everything to me to give myself a full twelve week maternity leave to spend with my husband and our daughter. My clients were so wonderful and understanding! They encouraged my time away but were definitely excited for my return.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a hair stylist that specializes in cutting and coloring naturally curly hair. Educating my clients is always a part of their service. I spent so much of my life not knowing how to care for my curls, teaching is always my priority. No matter if it’s their first time or tenth time coming in, everyone leaves learning something. I pride myself on being able to provide a safe environment where clients feels welcome. No judgment, just good vibes. I love being the place that they can come to relax. I always say it’s the best compliment when my clients can feel comfortable enough to take a quick nap while getting scalp and hair treatments in the shampoo bowl.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I think a lot more stylists are moving away from working in big salons and opening their own studios where it may just be them or one other stylist. It was the best decision I’ve ever made in my career so far!
