Hi Alaijah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was not your typical 6 year old that loved cartoons. My favorite channel to watch was the food channel and the baking competitions captured me. I always loved being in the kitchen with my grandma as I watched her bake cakes and pies from scratch. During Covid, I started to conduct at home baking competitions like the ones I used to watch when I was a kid. My mom didn’t stand a chance, haha. I taught myself and continued to work hard to sharpen my baking skills and utilize the creativity that God gave me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being self taught definitely comes with some struggles. Being disciplined and staying focused on the dream can sometimes be challenging when you have responsibilities and life doesn’t stop.

I have a home baking business called Rise Up Cakery. I specialize in custom cakes and cupcakes. I am most known for my perfectly balanced buttercream and the flavor that I incorporate into each cake; even the simple flavors pack a punch. The name of my business sets me apart because it symbolizes my love for Christ. With him, I am able to deliver a delightful experience through cake to others.
