Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Pradeep

Hi Michael, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a computer science graduate, and like many other kids in India, I completed my MBA, setting myself up for a career in management. I even secured a job placement through campus recruitment. However, my heart wasn’t in it. During college, I was deeply involved in modeling, which exposed me to photography and filmmaking. I was captivated by this creative world.

Just days before starting my new job, I decided to take the road less traveled. I realized I wanted to explore the world and gain new insights and experiences. Without the financial means to do so, I joined Emirates Airlines as cabin crew, which allowed me to travel the globe for three years.

Upon returning to India, I embarked on my creative journey. I spent a decade as an actor, starring in five films and a TV series, while also launching a successful career as a photographer. My passion and dedication led to decent success in both fields.

However, the only constant in my life is change. A couple of years ago, circumstances brought me to the USA, where I had to start from scratch again. Despite the challenges, I have made a promising start, working as a freelance photographer and with several photography companies. One of them has already ranked me among the Top 10 photographers in Cleveland. My journey continues to be filled with new adventures and opportunities, and I look forward to what the future holds.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was definitely not a smooth road, but it was an exciting and entertaining one. Working in a creative field brought challenges like unpredictability, criticism, rejection, creative blocks, uninspiring projects, and unpredictable income. As a shy person, I faced additional difficulties in getting work and promoting myself. However, I always believed that sincerity and continuous improvement would bring good things my way. Indeed, my dedication has consistently attracted some amazing people and opportunities.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am primarily a portrait and headshot photographer, specializing in environmental portraits, actor’s headshots, business portraits, editorial images, and family photos. I love capturing people in various settings, whether in the studio, outdoors, or at their workplace.

My greatest asset is my decade-long experience in front of the camera, which helps me elicit genuine emotions from those I photograph. I understand the challenges and fears of facing the camera, and I work to ease those concerns.

My main focus is always on the person I’m photographing rather than the technical aspects. Clients often come to me because they feel I bring out their best and make them look their best.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
That I had a rewarding 10-year acting career, starring as the lead in five theatrical releases and appearing in over 100 commercials, both in print and on TV.
