Hi Audrey, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi! My name is Audrey Ross, and I am a former marketing communications manager who turned stay-at-home mom in 2020. Now, I am a full-time social media content creator. We started building our home in 2021, and I began following interior design & home decor accounts on social media for inspiration. Once we moved into our new home in the fall of 2022, I started my account mainly to have a feed full of inspiration as we began furnishing and decorating our home. As we started doing our DIY projects and home upgrades, I began sharing them on my Instagram page @modernfarmhouse_ohio. What started as a creative outlet for me became a new passion and has grown into full-time content creation, collaborating with dream brands on brand partnerships and earning income as a content creator. My niche is affordable home upgrades & home decor, home hacks, and simple DIYs! I love sharing with my audience how you can create a beautiful home you love on a budget!
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been obstacles along the way; social media is an ever-changing environment, so keeping up with technological changes can be challenging! When you think you have a system figured out, something will change, and there will be a new way of doing things. There is constantly a learning curve.

My degree is in Fashion Merchandising – Textiles & Clothing from The Ohio State University. I began working in Visual Merchandising for the Abercrombie & Fitch corporate office in New Albany, Ohio. After 12 years, I transitioned into Marketing Communications at Bath & Body Works corporate office, formerly LBrands. I was there for 5 years before deciding to stay home with my two young daughters. My experience in Merchandising & Marketing lends itself to social media and helped me become a successful content creator in the home decor space!
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
It’s important to diversify when it comes to social media because you never know about this ever-changing space. So, I consistently share cross-channel on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, and soon-to-be YouTube. I blog with a Newsletter to continue to connect with my audience across many different formats. User Generated Marketing (UGC) and Affiliate Marketing through social media is the future of Marketing for many types of businesses, and there is a lot of potential to earn a great income!
