Hi Vijai, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
After graduating as a medical doctor in 2008, I immersed myself in the evolving field of lifestyle medicine and genetics. It was an exciting time to explore how everyday choices could profoundly impact one’s health. However, my journey took a pivotal turn when I met John Awada. John, a seasoned expert from Ohio with over two decades of experience in the drug testing industry, introduced me to the complexities and the crucial need for reliable drug screening. Together, we saw an opportunity to make a significant impact. We co-founded US Health Testing, aiming to revolutionize direct consumer health testing by leveraging our expertise and the capabilities of leading labs like Labcorp. At US Health Testing, we’re not just conducting tests but empowering individuals and communities with the knowledge to make informed health decisions. Despite our HQ being in Toledo, Ohio, my role has taken me across the globe, from international conferences to local community health initiatives. Each journey enriches my understanding of health as a universal language, transcending borders and cultures. Our mission is clear: to drive a health-forward future where everyone can access the tools they need for a healthier tomorrow. As I reflect on this journey from a medical student to an incumbent in health testing, I am reminded that the path to innovation is both challenging and rewarding. It’s a path that I am proud to walk along with my team and our community.

Navigating the complex landscape of the drug testing industry is fraught with challenges. Keeping abreast of stringent regulatory requirements and ensuring compliance are constant hurdles. Another major challenge is the public perception and acceptance of drug testing, which requires continuous education and advocacy. Technological advancements are rapid, and staying ahead requires relentless innovation and adaptability.

As a co-founder and key decision-maker at US Health Testing, my work spans running GTM experiments, UI/UX & technical roadmap, strategic planning, partnership management, marketing, and operational oversight. I focus on expanding our service offerings and ensuring they meet the highest standards of reliability and validity. Advocacy for health awareness and the importance of regular testing is a significant part of my role, aimed at demystifying and destigmatizing drug testing in the community and among stakeholders.

What I Love:
Ohio is a fantastic blend of tradition and innovation, making it an ideal location for my drug testing company, Uritox, LLC. Its strategic central location enhances our connectivity with partners nationwide, while the state’s supportive business environment helps foster growth. The community here is incredibly welcoming, always eager to support local businesses. Ohio’s rich array of cultural and outdoor activities ensures there’s never a dull moment.
What I Like Least:
However, Ohio does face challenges, particularly in economic disparities that affect access to essential services like healthcare and drug testing. These disparities are something I encounter often in my work. Additionally, Ohio’s varied climate, with its harsh winters, can disrupt daily operations and travel, posing logistical challenges for businesses like mine.
Overall, Ohio offers a dynamic environment where community support and business opportunities abound, despite some weather-related and economic hurdles.
