Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Boddie.
Hi Natalie, I’m so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Hello, I’m Natalie Rochelle Boddie, also known as Natalie Roché or s”He” Speaks! At 28, I’ve been happily married for 7 years and have 4 wonderful children – 3 boys and 1 girl. As a woman of God, I give Him all the glory for my abilities; I’m just the vessel through which His workflows!
My background spans beauty, customer service, and content creation. Despite having no formal training, I taught myself makeup artistry, personal styling, and digital art and design. From 2013 to 2023, I worked as a Certified Freelance makeup artist, servicing over 100 consistent clients for various occasions, from photo shoots to weddings. I’ve enjoyed working independently and at I Love Braids salon in Cleveland, where the atmosphere and coworkers were great. We provide a one-stop shop for beauty needs.
With a keen eye for fashion and style, I ventured into personal styling and shopping about 5 years ago, helping many women build their wardrobes and confidence. Four years ago, I joined Blanc Boutique Cleveland, where I also added modeling to my résumé. My former boss, Anaija Scott, gave me an excellent opportunity to grow professionally and personally.
Three years ago, I took social media seriously after going viral on TikTok. During this time, God revealed to me a shift in my purpose – from makeup artist to empowering women spiritually and emotionally. This led me to transition from offering excellent customer service to pouring into every woman I encountered, providing counsel, encouragement, and prayer.
In July 2023, I closed my makeup and personal styling books and left the boutique, much to everyone’s surprise. However, I knew God had a plan, leading to the birth of s”He” Speaks – a platform where God speaks and I empower. Now, nearly a year later, I coach women through womanhood and their spiritual walks with God, speak at events, create digital art and content, do brand promotion, and will be launching my podcast, s”He” Speaks Radio, this year. Stay tuned!
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been far from smooth. To keep it brief, my whole life has been a bumpy road that has led me to good outcomes. Or, as the Bible says, “Everything is working together for your good.” I realized that I was uncomfortable and insecure in my existence for many years. I was afraid to get s” He” Speaks off the ground because I knew that I first had to be a catalyst of change to be effective in the community I was building. I couldn’t help women walk confidently in womanhood if I believed I would never be an all-around strong and prosperous woman just because I never knew my mom. I missed the instruction manual on being a woman. I wouldn’t be able to help women walk with the father if my spiritual connection with God was lacking because I never had a father to connect with in the natural. Despite my traumatic beginnings, there was still a plan in place for me to fulfill the call of helping women overcome the same beliefs I would have to overcome. I did the hard part of pruning and purging old habits and beliefs internally while educating myself on how to best guide and coach other women through the same mindsets and heart postures. I had to learn to be brave and authentic when putting myself out there so that the people who need me can find me and identify with my brand.
I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Here’s the backstory to my mission: Once I became a woman, I felt like something was missing from my life. It was hard for me to progress in growth, maturity, and spiritually because I was internally struggling with the fact that my mother never showed me how to be a woman before her passing, and no one ever taught me about God and how to walk with him. There was a void and a disconnect that was very present inside me. Things that came easy to other girls/women were a struggle. It showed in my parenting, my marriage, how I cared for myself, and how I showed up in every aspect of womanhood. For a while, my walk with God was a “call him when I need him” sort of thing instead of having a genuine relationship with him. I ran from God and my responsibilities as a woman. I had no clue how to navigate that road and feared failing altogether. By deciding to face my fears of inability and inadequacy, I overcame them and built myself into the woman I am today. I knew that in being set free, I had to help other women be set free from this as well; thus, the vision of s” He” Speaks was born! I now help women ages 18-35 with these very same struggles.
My mission is to go on this journey with this woman, providing a supportive community where they can each transparently grow in their faith, find sisterhood, and walk boldly on their purpose journeys as women! I’m known for my elaborate fashion sense, including bold colors, prints, and a collection of 40+ prescription frames, makeup artistry, inspiring in-person and online presence, inviting personality, Breakthrough Coaching, spiritual guidance, and creating authentic connections. My authenticity and bravery in sharing my story sets me apart, allowing others to connect with my brand on a deeper level. I’m most proud of overcoming my struggles and using them to impact others’ lives positively.
