Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel G. Scott.
Hi Rachel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a wife, mother, Bible teacher and Ohio Native. I have a women’s ministry calling I Can’t Come Down where I encourage people to walk in their purpose and assignment and take bold leaps of faith. In October of 2022, I signed my first traditionally published book deal with national Christian publisher, Moody Publishers, for my new book called Taking the 5 Leaps.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, not at all. Staying on the path God has for us is never easy. In the case of me signing a book deal it’s been quite a journey. After signing with my agent on my 10th wedding anniversay and then receiving a publising deal seven or eight months later, my home was crashed into. My ideal writing experience pretty much went out the window as I had to do a lot of my writing between hotels, Airbnb’s, and getting a family settled back in once it was time to move back in. So many beautiful and challenging things were happening all at once yet I know that I was right in the will of God as it all. Not in the crashing and but in the pressing. Life isn’t easy, especially when we are walking in our purpose, but I was confident that it would all turn out for my good, and it did.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I write Christian non-fiction books, devotionals, and other resources. I teach the Word of God on my YouTube channel (youtube.com/rachelgscotttv) and have a podcast called Taking the Leaps.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you, and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Actually, during the crisis, I experienced the greatest boom in my ministry and the brand agency I had at the time. People were starting to understand that there was no such thing as, “job security” so they were stepping into other skills and gifting that they had that could create revenue. They need solid teaching and branding and I was providing both.
That said, one of the greatest lessons I learned was, “don’t putting off until tomorrow what you could do today.” I had delayed in some vacations and visits I wanted to do thinking that I could do it another time or another year but when everything was shut down, I realized that I should have done it then and not assumed it would always be an option.
