Hi Bridget, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Hey, I’m Bridget —founder of Slate Interiors Studio, award-winning interior designer, and your creative partner! In my decade-plus of experience, I’ve tackled residential and commercial projects from 160 sq. ft to 100,000 sq. ft. Today, my biggest passion is helping business owners transform their interiors into spaces that wow their customers. My goal is always to show my clients the full potential of their space and blow their minds with a completely reimagined concept of what it can be.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Launching Slate Interiors Studio has been overall smooth – I am grateful for all of the industry connections that I have made over my career which have allowed me to be consistently booked since I launched. The biggest barrier was actually mental: convincing myself to walk away from employment at a steady architectural firm. It helped to remind myself that I’d like to have total control over my work and my schedule.

At Slate, we’re driven by creating meaningful spaces for businesses that care about their people. Through visual storytelling and functional spatial design, we help businesses create immersive brand experiences for their customers. Our work usually focuses on salons, spas, offices, retail, and other commercial renovations.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Hone in on your strengths and hire people to complement your weaknesses! Tap into your existing network for business; it is probably much broader than you think.
