Today we’d like to introduce you to Sam Keopaseuth.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I began working at Rose Nails in 2016 under the previous owner. I had worked as a nail technician under a few other shops for the previous two years before ending up at Rose Nails. I would have been working as a nail technician much longer, but it took me many tries to pass the nail exam since English isn’t my first language. However, I was determined to get my license and eventually passed. Fast forward to 2020, when COVID hit, all nail salons were closed for ~4 months, and I had a lot of free time to develop a business plan to purchase my first nail salon. Once I returned to work, I worked extremely hard and saved as much as possible to pay for the salon. Finally, in August of 2022, I saved enough money and purchased my first nail salon. I’ve been the owner since then, and I love every minute of it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No – as I mentioned previously, English is not my first language, and I struggle to read and write. It took me many tries to pass the nail exam, but I was determined to never give up. Even when purchasing Rose Nails, the process took nearly 2 years due to COVID. There was an issue with acquiring a lease through Meijer that made the process take so long. Everyone told me to quit trying and get my money back for the salon because everyone thought it would never happen. However, I was willing to wait and put in the hard work because I knew it would one day pay off.

We are a nail salon located inside the Meijer in Canal Winchester that specializes in acrylic, gel-x, manicures, and pedicures. We offer great prices, excellent customer service, and keep up with all the nail trends.
What matters most to you? Why?
Family because without them, I would not be where I am today. My dad came to this country in 1992 and worked hard for nearly ten years to bring my mom and brothers over to this country when I was 13 years old. All of us have had to work very hard to overcome the language and cultural barriers needed to be successful in this country.
