Conversations with Shannon McFaul

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon McFaul.

Shannon McFaul

Hi Shannon, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
At a young age, I was always very drawn to being creative, whether it was DIYs, drawing, or crafting; I loved being able to ignite my mind through various mediums. It wasn’t until helping to create flyers and social media posts at my very first job that I realized I enjoyed digital art as well. I decided to attend college for my Graphic Design degree and was thoroughly enjoying every minute of it.

The social media posts I was doing while in college for my job were being reciprocated well, and soon enough I realized I could make a career out of helping other small business owners with their social media. Since 16 years old, I had interacted frequently with my local small businesses due to my job, which blossomed into many wonderful friendships. While finishing college, working, and trying to build my creative business, I gained several local clients that entrusted my with their design projects. I have recently finished my college career in December 2023, and am ready to take on my business full-time in January of 2024!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Running a small business has not been a smooth road, but it’s taught me so much along the way! Being a creative business that not only offers graphic design services but also social media management was tricky. Social media management is a very new service industry, so many of us are truly pioneering through the do’s and don’ts of our industry. Social media is ever-changing and it’s pivotal that I’m consistently on my phone, keeping up with the trends, and implementing this to my client’s social media while also honoring each of their unique brand voices. To be a social media manager and truly help clients blossom is to be ready for constant change and dedication!

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?

Social media management takes the pressure off business owners to be consistent and present on their social media platforms – I do it for you! Clover Studio researches hashtags, SEO optimization, your brand voice, and more to create a blooming presence on your platforms that sets you apart from others.

I’m most proud of being able to grow my business while I was still completing my college degree. It included working on weekends, working whilst on vacations, and being up until midnight researching for clients. I had told myself that I wouldn’t take more clients while I was in school, but the demand was there, and I knew I wanted to work with these phenomenal local businesses. I worked incredibly hard while finishing my degree to build local businesses platforms, attend their events, and help them grow their communities.

Clover Studio stands out from others because of my specialty, offering social media management services. It’s a new and growing field, and I’m excited to see others discover the reward that sparks from hiring social media managers. Social media is something that is never going away and is vital to flourish your business to a wider community.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The best thing about Chardon is the true sense of community. I never realized how strong it was, until working on the Chardon town square and seeing how much small businesses do for their community, how many regular clients are kind and supportive, and how magical the events held there can be. Often times, when people visit, they remark on how Chardon looks just like a Hallmark movie, especially during the holiday season. In recent years, I’ve noticed many more people coming to vacation and find a haven of serenity in Chardon.

If you know Chardon, you know we’re known as the snow belt. It’s safe to say that the absurd amount of snow we get every year is my least favorite! If there’s one snowflake that touches the ground, just know I’ll be inside working and cozy! I do love seeing how the snow decorates the town but certainly dislike driving in it.
