Rising Stars: Meet Marvin Ekpenyong aka DJ MARV GO HARD

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marvin Ekpenyong.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started? 
Well, I was born and raised in Columbus, OH. Mostly by my mother because my father got deported for drug trafficking when I was about 5 years old. My mother was very involved in the arts community so naturally, I was too. I went from tap dancing to playing the drum to DJing. When I started DJing my freshman year in high school, it opened up a whole new world in my music career. Soon after I started DJing I started recording music myself and I haven’t stopped since. Now, I have worked with big names like Redman, Cassidy, and Fabo. My music is available on all platforms, you can find me by searching DJ MARV GO HARD. In recent years, I have pulled away from DJing, and I have been doing a lot of videography and photography. I also manage artists and models as well. Basically, anything that has to do with entertainment, I do it or have someone on my team that does it. Back when I first started DJing me my current business partner, LaRonday Martin, started a company called Most Official Entertainment and we have been making things happen with our brand ever since. 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been smooth for the most part but what is a path without a few roadblocks. Honestly, my main struggle in the past was trying to balance relationships and my business at the same time. All women aren’t built to be with someone like me, and it made it so hard to move how I needed to for a while. 

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a recording artist, artist manager, and videographer/photographer. I’m known for my music and also my many connections with the right people to make things happen. I’m most proud of my company, Most Official Entertainment, being able to work with the individuals we have gotten to work with over the years. Big names and not-so-known names. I’m different from others because I am very easy to work with, and I am very humble. No matter how big I get, you’ll never catch me acting Hollywood. 

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My mother just always teaching me how to navigate this world and go down the right path. My mother passed away a few years ago so it’s still heavy on my heart. I love her so much for everything.
