Check Out Kris Ayoup’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kris Ayoup.

Kris Ayoup

Hi Kris, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always been an active person. I played sports throughout into youth and college and exercised regularly. While attending a group fitness class, I realized “I could do this!” So, I got a Group Fitness Certification, which led to a Personal Training Certification and specialty formats. After teaching at a local community center, I wanted to find a place that was positive and fitness-focused, so I decided to go out on my own. I rented space from a dance studio and then opened Absolute Fitness!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Owning a small business has had more ups than downs. The biggest challenge that I have faced was the COVID shutdown. Absolute opened for business on March 1st, 2020, and was shut down less than three weeks later due to quarantine. I am lucky to have a committed and supportive group of members that helped keep AF open throughout the pandemic.

Current struggles include offering fresh formats for my Group Fitness members. The fitness industry is constantly changing, and there is a focus on virtual workouts. I strive to offer new and exciting classes at the gym to keep new and existing members coming back for more!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am known for my Group Fitness Classes at Absolute. My instructors and I put a lot of time into training, researching, and practicing for our group classes. My specialty is Kickboxing. It is the workout that I’ve done the longest, trained the most, and enjoy. I use my Cardio Kickboxing experience by working Kickboxing drills into bootcamp classes. I also choreograph and teach my own cardio kickboxing class that is set to fun music! I am most proud of our Cardio Stixx program at Absolute. Cardio drumming in a well-known format, but our classes set us apart because we create our own choreography.

My signature program is STRONG AF. This is a women’s lifting program that focuses on what our bodies can do…not how much they weigh. It makes me most happy to see women lifting weights they never though possible!

A unique program that I offer is Ugi. Ugi stands for “U Got It!” It is a Pilates-inspired format that uses a squishable medicine ball. I recommend everyone give it a try!

We’d love to hear about what you think about risk-taking.
I would call myself a “calculated risk taker.” I am not impulsive. I discuss risks with my husband, family, and friends before taking a leap. I weigh pros and cons before making a decision.

  • $7.50 drop-in per class
  • 10 classes for $67.50
