Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Solomon.
Hi Olivia, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in a small town called Baltimore and I remember at a very young age, like maybe around 7 years old, I was gifted a pink princess camera. I would take pictures of anything and everything I found interesting in my childhood home. After that, I was pretty much hooked on photography. I actually still have those pictures to this very day tucked away in an old lunch tin. Then, when I entered high school, I was gifted my first real DSLR camera. My love for photography grew so much I knew I wanted to learn more so after graduating high school I enrolled at Columbus State Community College and after 2 years I received my Associates Degree in Digital Photography. Now, I use everything I’ve learned to make Sabrina Snaps happen today.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road for me at all. When I started Columbus State, Covid-19 hit Ohio hard. Everything was basically shut down and so all my classes were moved to online the first year. It was very difficult trying to learn a course that was originally designed to be in person. I also faced many financial challenges. I also struggled a lot with my mental health and sometimes did not have the energy to do anything, so at times, I would have nothing to do with photography. I just started getting back into the flow only a couple months ago, and it feels good to be back!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a lifestyle and studio photographer. I specialize in Couple, Engagement, Elopement, Family, Maternity, Newborn, Milestones (birthdays, seniors, etc.), Creative and Pets! I am known for getting those candid moments and creating genuine laughter. I am most proud of the progress I have made with Sabrina Snaps in such short time. It is definitely not as easy as it looks. What sets me apart from other photographers is the experience of my shoots. I provide a comfortable yet fun environment for all my clients, whereas sometimes with other photographers, it can be a little nerve-racking.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I came up with the business name Sabrina Snaps and logo randomly at 3 am one day. I just woke up, hopped on my phone notes app, and created my photography business! It has paid off since then.
