Hi Karissa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Born and raised in Wheeling, West Virginia, photography has always been a prominent part of my life. From a young age, I found myself immersed in the captivating world of capturing special moments through the lens of a camera. 

Growing up, I had the privilege of witnessing the magic of weddings firsthand as I accompanied my mother to various ceremonies. She was an incredibly talented wedding photographer, and I was fortunate enough to learn the art of storytelling through pictures from her. 

In addition to my mother’s influence, my grandfather, a passionate photographer himself, nurtured my love for the craft during our recreational outings. Together, we explored the picturesque landscapes of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio, capturing the natural beauty that surrounded us. 

However, life took an unexpected turn when my mother fell ill. It was in this challenging moment that I made a life-changing decision – to carry on the legacy of photography in our family. I launched my own photography business, driven by the desire to keep my mother’s spirit alive and ensure that she would always have photography in her life, even if she couldn’t physically be behind the lens. 

Specializing in wedding and elopement photography, I have had the opportunity to document love stories in Pittsburgh throughout the state of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio. Each wedding holds a unique and remarkable story, and I feel honored to be entrusted with capturing these precious moments for couples. 

Through my photography business, I aim to merge my family legacy with my own creative vision. The lessons learned from my mother and grandfather, combined with my personal style, result in an artistry that is genuine, heartfelt, and authentic. 

As I continue to embark on this journey, I remain committed to delivering exceptional service and capturing each couple’s unique love story. My goal is to provide not just photographs but also a cherished memento that will be treasured for generations to come.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a photographer often comes with its fair share of obstacles and challenges. One significant hurdle is the constant possibility of rejection. Whether it be from potential clients or in submissions to contests and exhibitions, the fear of being turned down can be disheartening. Additionally, navigating the world of marketing and social media can be a daunting task. With the vast number of photographers and images available online, standing out and reaching the right audience while staying true to my vision can seem like an uphill battle.

As a wedding and engagement photographer who specializes in capturing authentic moments, I take immense pride in continuing my family legacy. I believe that every couple has a beautiful story to tell, and my role is to be the visual storyteller. I strive to create a collection of images that truly reflect the love and connection unique to each client. By focusing on genuine and real moments, I aim to create keepsakes that my clients can cherish for a lifetime. It brings me joy to witness and document the purest emotions, heartfelt exchanges, and intimate gestures that make each wedding and engagement session special. Being able to carry on my family’s dedication to capturing love and weaving it into unforgettable memories is a privilege that drives my passion for this art form. 

What does success mean to you?
For me, success as a wedding and engagement photographer goes far beyond the accolades and recognition. It lies in my ability to capture my clients’ unique stories and create images that truly resonate with them. Each couple has a distinct journey full of love, laughter, and cherished moments. To be able to document those moments and showcase their individuality in a way that touches their hearts is the ultimate measure of success for me.
