Daily Inspiration: Meet Amber Ogden

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Ogden.

Amber Ogden

Hi Amber, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always loved to bake, especially for my kids, but it wasn’t till my daughter was born in 2018 when my husband and I decided that I was going to quit my job and stay at home. I had made some soccer ball sugar cookies for my son’s team, and my good friend asked if I was going to sell any for Thanksgiving. So, I posted on Facebook that I was offering some for Thanksgiving, and I haven’t stopped since! I love making celebrations even more special (and sweet) with my custom cookies and cakes. It’s always an honor when people choose and trust me to help them with their special occasions. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the love and constant support of my husband, Kyle, my two kids, Noah and Lily, and all of the people who order from me and share my work with friends and family. But above all, none of this would be even remotely possible without God. I took a huge leap of faith when I first started out, and He constantly opens new doors for my little business; God is good.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I am a self-taught cookier, so it definitely come with its challenges and learning curves along the way. When I look back at the cookies I did when I first started out, I laugh! It’s been such a fun journey for me; I was very young when I became a mother, so I never felt like I “found myself” until I started Blessed Be the Sweets. It’s given me a purpose outside of being a mom to my kids. They get to watch me learn, grow, and put in hardwork. My family is what keeps me going.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I own a cottage bakery called Blessed Be the Sweets. I specialize in custom sugar cookies and custom cakes. I am most proud of how far I’ve come in the past 5 years. I honestly love what I do, and I still pinch myself that I get to do what I do for a living. I take every order with a smile because I know there’s a lot of people out there that do cookies, and they chose me.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
I actually have learned a lot of different techniques from Instagram, just watching others do cookies and then trying it myself, making tweaks, and making them my own style.
