Rising Stars: Meet Cayla Napoleon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cayla Napoleon. 

Hi Cayla, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Honestly, performing arts is truly in my blood. From my great grandparents to my little 2-year-old daughter, we are all very into music, dance, acting, and anything else you could think of creatively. I started out dancing around the age of 6 or 7 in church. I also attended The Cleveland Playhouse as a young child for their drama camps & performed in their black box theatre. 

I began modeling because friends, photographers, & other experienced models in the industry suggested that I do so. For the longest time, I was nervous & continuously declined. I’d sit in runway practices with people and wish that I wasn’t so nervous. I wanted to join; I just could not face my fears at that time. 

While pursuing my master’s degree, I decided that I would like to work for myself one day. Through making that decision, I have decided to tap into my inner child that said she would be a model, designer, stylist, lawyer, chef, singer, and dancer. She may not be able to do it all, but she definitely can do whatever she says she will do. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been smooth with the pandemic putting a hold on things first off. I began modeling around 2018, so as soon as I began to get comfortable & elevate as a model, COVID-19 said, “No, ma’am, hold on now!” I also became a mother during that time as well. Motherhood within itself is a journey, but I would not trade my daughter for the world. 

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an Image Consultant. I specialize in styling, modeling, creative direction, production, event planning & almost anything else you could think of pertaining to enhancing your beauty. If I cannot do it, I most certainly can find someone to complete the task at a high quality. 

I am currently known for my modeling I believe. I also am known for my dancing. I am currently in Reflections Dance Theatre, founded & directed by Nehemiah Spencer. 

I am most proud of my very first fashion show that I put on last February. I casted everyone & formed a powerful team on my own & ended up making one of my many visions come to life. I am so grateful to have jumped that hurdle. I just have to maintain in the race & keep going. 

What sets me apart from others is my personality & my ability to empathize with everyone I encounter. I always am told that my energy attracts others or that I’m a joy to be around. When I walk into any room, my energy and aura is so powerful that my presence is definitely known. 

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Always stay true to yourself. 

It’s okay to say no sometimes. 

Learn when to leave along the way —it’s life. 

Live & love don’t just survive.
