Meet Paul Adongo of Wellness Flow

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Adongo.

Hi Paul, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, and graduated high school in South Africa before moving to Dayton, OH, for college… After working in the corporate world for a while, I quickly realized that I wanted something different. At the same time my business partner, whom I met in college and is from Chicago, IL, had reached out to me about possibly starting a business together. Sean reached out to me and asked me about my use of IV Infusions when I traveled, I shared my reasons for getting IVs and he decided to try it on one of his travel assignments and was impressed by how he felt after his session. We soon began looking at the Infusion therapy industry and all the benefits provided by IV hydration, such is treating nutrient deficiencies, boosting immunity, improving general well-being, reducing recovery times, and more. All this led to the founding of Wellness Flow Dayton OH in 2019, a health and wellness company with the tagline “your health, your way”, opening right before the pandemic. We have since opened a 2nd location in the Short North, Columbus, Ohio, and have added several new services, aesthetics, hormone treatment, peptides, and skin care amongst others.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Opening right before the pandemic made things interesting. Not a lot of people were aware of what IV hydration was let alone the benefits of it. Our Initial marketing plan was to educate the surrounding areas about who we are and what IV hydration is, but we were quickly forced to deal with what everyone was dealing with when it came to the lockdown, essential vs nonessential “work”. With the quick thinking of the team and people around me we pivoted into pandemic management strategies. This meant we started Covid testing and creating “bubbles.” We began live event testing very early into the pandemic and gave us an opportunity to provide immunity boost IVs. This was a time when everything came together as people would come for testing, get some educational materials on IV hydration, what it is, the benefits of IV’s and what we offer. After the pandemic we have seen people look towards preventive and functional strategies that have normalized our offerings . Notable individuals have also started talking about IV hydration/ “Drips” as it is sometimes referred to, such as the Myers Cocktail or NAD+ which have become widely popular and requested.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

What sets us apart from others is the we keep a very high standard of care with our staff consisting of only experienced nurse practitioner and registered Nurses with a focus on health needs of our clients. We are not a franchise so we can treat everyone like an individual and come up with personalized regiments.

What I’m most proud of is we have been able to stay independent, and everything we have accomplished has been done solely based on what we wanted our company to be. Our brand is known for health education, quality of service, and customer service. Coming into one of our locations is an experience from the moment you walk in, our locations are curated to make you feel like you are in the comfort of your own home.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I have a background in finance, and we always talked about the level of risk. I am not someone who is risk averse, and my business partner is even less risk averse. Being an entrepreneur by default makes you someone that likes risk. This has been the biggest risk of my life, leaving a stable work environment and starting a business. All my goals, dream, and livelihood are all associated with the risk of me being an entrepreneur. I wouldn’t trade this feeling for anything.
