Today we’d like to introduce you to Rick Deering.
Hi Rick, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I’m a self-taught traditional film photographer. Having a complete background in film/darkroom and printing. I exhibited my works in fashion beauty and fine art throughout Cleveland, especially in Tremont thru the ’90s. I switched to shooting with digital cameras in the late ’90s. I’m a creative and artistic photographer, keeping my love for editorial fashion beauty, especially the time period of the ’90s.
I took a hiatus for about 15 years only to return to my passion in September 2019. I’m doing a studio share in the West.78th St. Studios Cleveland.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a creative is always a challenge. Having to work retail /telemarking jobs to support yourself and your passion.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Fashion, Beauty, Fine art, Portraiture, and Still Life. My lighting skills sets me apart as I have mastered my craft.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Never walk away from you passion.
