Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Schrudde. 

Hi Andrew, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
We (Melanie Taylor and Andrew Schrudde) started Maverick Beer Mixers in 2022. It’s been an amazing journey so far, and it all started one fall afternoon. We both were in the mood to relax and watch football with a good pumpkin pie craft beer from a local bar and grill. Unfortunately, they were all out and not getting any more until next season. So, we found another bar across town that had a similar one so we decided to give it a try. We were disappointed because it just didn’t have much flavor. The next day I had a crazy idea…not uncommon for me. I did a little research and decided to make my own flavor to add to a beer I had in the fridge. While Melanie was cooking dinner, I was whipping up my own concoction. I wanted to surprise her with it, so I kept it a secret. When dinner was ready, we sat down, and I finally showed her what I had been up to. I put a small amount of my pumpkin pie flavoring into a glass and then poured in a Bud Light. I even put some brown sugar around the rim of the glass. Melanie was excited to try it but skeptical. She’s not even a beer drinker. She took a sip. “Oh my gosh, this is amazing!” is what I recall her saying. I had to agree. We couldn’t believe we created something we enjoyed more than the craft beers we tried around town. So, it began… 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We’ve definitely had our share of challenges along the way. Starting a consumer goods business like ours is quite the daunting task considering all of the established beer, craft beer, and cocktail mixer companies already out there. However, we have found a niche in the market due to the uniqueness of our product. One of the biggest challenges is trying to educate the public on what exactly a beer mixer is. A beer mixer is a new product, and it is packaged in a unique way. It is a single-serve (mini bottle) mixer that you add to any 12-16 oz beer of your choice to create a craft-like beer experience. Our mixers contain no alcohol, just amazing flavor. During our journey, we realized that our mixers are also perfect for crafting cocktails. Marketing the versatility of our mixers has been another challenge along with all of the things that are required to bring a food product to retail.
