Meet Joshua Chenault

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Chenault.

Hi Joshua, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been obsessed with pop culture and entertainment. I knew that this was the field that I wanted to grow my career in. Studying at Wright State University and through interning, I discovered that radio and journalism was what I wanted to do. I started a job at SiriusXM in Washington, D.C. and while working there, I had a couple of viral moments on Twitter during the COVID pandemic. I then wanted to take my journalistic takes past Twitter and get on camera. Luckily TikTok was very popular during the quarantine as well, so I decided to post there, and I went viral. And since 2020, I have been able to continue to grow my following with cool things happening such as being duetted by Shang-Chi actor Simu Liu and having tweets posted in multiple publications, and also being retweeted by former first Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I really wish I could say it has been a smooth road, but it has not. Trying to create a path in such a competitive field has seen many roadblocks along the way. Having to work a job that pays the bills while trying to cater to the career you actually want has been the biggest struggle. Another struggle I’ve faced was the question of whether this is something that I can actually do. When insecurities make you question if you are actually good enough to be employed in an industry that so many people desire to have a career in.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a news creator on TikTok, where I have amassed a following of over 120,000. I am known for informing the audience about the latest Marvel and comic book TV and movie news. What set me apart from other creators is that I would dance as my reaction to the news instead of your regular talking video. However, recently, I’ve been able to reveal other TV and movie news past Marvel, DC, and comics. And actually, I’ve started talking in my videos, and my audience loves it. It was something I was extremely nervous about, but they have welcomed my talking content with open arms.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be anything involving the children’s department at my church. Because our parents were so involved in the church, these were my first real friends, and we had a great time at church functions and events. Also, I exercised my creativeness with them as we all used to put on mini concerts and plays and host different programs. It was a fun time.
