Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Sliger.
Hi Kyle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I started around 18 years old when I first sat down on a full-size sportbike and took it for a ride.. after that first ride I began looking for a sportbike of my own and eventually about a year later found one I could afford since money was very hard to come by at that time… problem was coming from a childhood of skateboarding every day and trying to go pro the same mentally jumped over to the sportbike and I began trying tricks and wheelies and all the things you are not supposed to do on a motorcycle…
Somehow this became second nature for me and seen a lifetime of fun and opportunity if I decided to take this seriously and do it a certain way. So I then committed to this self-agreement and never second-guessed it… it was all or nothing and believe me, I had nothing for a long time but never gave up and never gave up and take you where ever you want to go in life I learned.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not a smooth road for me… being broke for almost 10 years working a job and trying to be the best stunt rider in the nation was very difficult.
Between the broken bones, lack of money, and long road trips my life most certainly revolved around stunt riding… many rough days of pain and not being able to pay bills living in small rooms desperately just trying to find a garage to fix my bike in doesn’t seem like too bad of a bump in the road but 10 years of it really added up. The amount of effort I put into the riding while working a construction job I feel I could have become a doctor twice in college.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business started out not planning to make a business out of it but more so just a paying hobby. Later after a few years of getting good at doing tricks on the sportbike, I began getting some recognition for it and was asked to perform for money at a motorcycle event… it blew my mind, and thought I could get even better and do this type of stuff all the country if I really tried. And at that moment I knew I could have endless possibilities on the motorcycle if I played my cards right and put in a big effort and so I do just that. The big step was going to compete in a competition against the best in the world that I was specifically training for several years before ever becoming brave enough to attend. In 2012 I attended my first big pro competition and was shocked at how everyone was impressed with my riding. I somehow developed my own style and tricks that separated me from everyone else in a good way.
At the end of the championship, I was right in the top 5 riders in the country. I couldn’t believe I did that well but it wasn’t good enough for me. So I went back to training for the next big championship which was 4 years later.. during that time I invented a trick called the 360 rock walk which today is like the backflip being invented in FMX freestyle motocross. It was a huge deal and changed our sport forever. 2016 I went to the championship series XDL to compete against not just America, not but the whole world and was beaten by one point from being the best in the world for stunt riding… my mission was to be the best in the USA and I successfully completed that and almost went beyond my goal and the best part is I know if I truly wanted to work even harder and been the best I could have and that’s enough for me.
Who else deserves credit for your story?
Yes, this journey was not done alone or without help from supporting friends, family, and sponsors. My friend Allen Hackworth is my announcer and videographer at every event I attend to. He’s the right-hand man no doubt.
And my sponsors most certainly helped as well especially “ICON Motosports” big support from them mentally and financially to help me move forward with riding giving me hope and knowing I’m on the right path if I’m getting this kind of support. Also my job and Pat Murphy my boss always stuck up for me to let me come and go as I please for events.
Time off work is hard to ask for and without that freedom, I could not have accomplished this life I live now.
Pricing:
- Stunt show entertainment is between “$1000- 5000″ depending on the event.
- My stunt show comes in different sizes and performances which will vary in price. This is a loud and exciting show for all ages to see and this is also something you can only see live or on social media.. this would be the closest you can get to a live-action Motorsport show.
