Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Canova.
Hi Chris, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
We launched our services in 1987 and have served thousands of young people to overcome barriers to graduation and positively transition them into employment and post-secondary training opportunities through the efforts of our Career Specialists.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
JOG has faced many obstacles along our path to serving 40,000 kids. Our main roadblock has been funding changes and shifts in political/educational priorities.
It has always been important to focus on the needs of the kids we serve first, we start every day with that in the front of our minds. It never surprises me that people want to help inherently, we seek those individuals to help with funding initiatives and support. Northeast Ohio is a great place to live, work, and prospers. We are thankful for our communities!
As you know, we’re big fans of JOG. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are known for our outcome-based programs!
We work with young people to establish educational and employment goals and we attain them through a combined effort. JOG is a program that individuals, schools, and communities can count on to produce well-equipped tax-paying citizens.
What’s next?
JOG is always working hard to serve the ever-shifting needs of our communities.
We need to stay culturally competent while keeping programming relevant to the needs of employers as well as young adults. We are always in search of the next big idea to stay ahead of the curve.
