Conversations with Heather Pedigo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Pedigo.

Hi Heather, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Photography is the beauty of life, captured. Simply put- that is my passion. There is beauty everywhere and it is meant to be embraced. I have always had a passion for creativity and the arts, although photography wasn’t my first venture. I began my professional journey at The Columbus College of Art & Design graduating with a BA in Fashion Design & Art History. CCAD will forever be a special moment in time for me, from in-depth learning of fashion illustration, garment production, cinema, photography, and color study- I could go on. From there, I entered the corporate world working with Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, Gilly Hicks & Lbrands. I learned more than I ever expected, traveled internationally, flew on private jets, was mentored by great leaders & climbed the ladder as one would aspire. I was committed to corporate for sixteen years.

Then, 2020 introduced a new journey for me. The company I worked for at the time was having challenges- it was purchased by a private equity firm and the environment was extremely stressful. Layoffs every month and budget cuts constantly. My team of eight dwindled to a team of two. Eventually, my entire design team was let go as the company decided to go straight to the factory for its merchandise. This led me to one door I would never have been courageous enough to open unless I was forced to do so- launching my own business. It was always a dream but didn’t seem like it could become reality. Hello Heather Pedigo Photography Ltd!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of my biggest challenges is balancing family and work. Having three young children, their extracurriculars, evening dinners, household needs, photography sessions, editing, marketing…It is a busy, lovely, exciting, unknown, wonderful journey that would not be possible without the support of my family. My husband, children, and parents have been so encouraging and supportive. I am overwhelmingly grateful for them. Schedules can be hectic but family is always a priority. Happy husband, happy..life!? You know the saying, but it truly goes both ways.

Also, I believe the key to life’s journey is maintaining a grateful attitude. I read something from Mike Dooley that impacts my thought process and I remind myself often… “Every single minute of every single day, they’re there. They may be hidden behind circumstances, people, or light poles. Challenges closed doors or lost keys. Camouflaged, dovetailed, or whispering. Purring, kissing, or hissing. But more often than not they’re lying about in the open, under a clear blue sky, in plain view. Absolutely. Guaranteed. 10,000 reasons to be happy.”

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My range of work includes portraiture, families, website presence, real estate & events. I have passion for every aspect. I love working with people of all ages- candid images are my favorites when working with individuals, families, and events. They truly capture emotion and personality. I also enjoy helping small businesses build website presence by illustrating personal journeys and highlighting specialties and products.

On the other hand, I love photographing real estate whether it is interior design or homeowners and realtors looking to advertise a sale. I take pride in capturing images of unique angles, and small details and making physical spaces come to life through photography. What sets me apart from others is a great question. I base my answer on a couple of things.

I am grateful for my design and creative background, I incorporate it into my field daily. It impacts each and every photo visually through layout, color, engagement, and perspective making each gallery unique but still maintaining personal consistency. I am also very much a social person. I enjoy conversation and learning about others. It is very important that my clients are comfortable in front of the camera and for the session to be a positive, memorable experience. For this is the energy that will be remembered when looking back at photos from our session!

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
