Meet Nazli Brush

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nazli Brush.

Hi Nazli, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
After finishing my art education in Istanbul, Turkey, I decided to move to the United States. During the pandemic, I started illustrating some of Columbus’s iconic landmarks. I’ve been working on this project for two years, and it’s my dream to make an illustration book of these landmarks.

While working on this project, I started a small business selling products with my designs. My products include greeting cards, art prints, stickers, tote bags, and t-shirts. In addition to my Columbus Landmarks collection, I have many other travel and destination artworks from all over the world. I also share my art journey on my Youtube channel.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is full of challenges — it is never completely smooth for me, or for anyone, and I wouldn’t want it to be smooth anyway.

If you are a one-person business like me you’re basically being everything, being a packing person or a photographer, or product manager, or designer, shipping, or emails, to-do lists, social media, editing, scheduling, wholesale and more! It is not easy and I am still a very small business but I believe success takes time and I love what I do!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a multi-disciplinary artist working on a variety of artworks, from hand fans to miniature illustrations, to digital works. After working on digital artwork for a long time, I recently started painting again. I am creating art collections inspired by my own travels. I’m currently working on a new collection drawing inspiration from all over the world.

I love traveling the world, creating artwork, and sharing my journey on my Youtube channel. This year’s destination is South America. My husband and I are about to go to Argentina for 3 months. I am very excited about this new chapter and the artwork that I’ll create from this trip.

Networking and finding a mentor can have a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Remembering your mantras every day, and knowing what you are working for and what you want to accomplish will keep you alive and let you be a strong version of yourself.

When you let your hobby to became your business you cannot get 100% relaxed because money is involved. So give yourself some time to find new hobbies that you can consistently do, and let your body and brain reset. Working out helps me a lot to feel reconnected to my business and keeps me fresh and healthy.
