Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Kerwood.
Hi Rachel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been interested in photography since I was 14 years old. I went on a trip to New York City and use my metallic blue Sony point-and-shoot to take photos of everything I found interesting. I was hooked. Fast forward to 2019, I was 23 and wanting to make photography a career. I planned projects, submitted to magazines, and did shoot after shoot, all day, every day.
I’ve made some amazing friends along the way, and have learned so many lessons in the business, both professionally and personally. Photography led to some of my greatest adventures, including meeting my best friend, as well as my husband.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have definitely been struggles. When I first started taking my photography seriously, it came to an abrupt halt when my father died. There have been financial struggles and drama as well, but that’s the business sometimes.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a West Virginia based photographer who finds inspiration in the creepy and strange. I’m very proud of all of my work, but mostly my horror themed projects.
How do you think about happiness?
My family. My husband, our pets, my sisters, my mom…they’ve all been such massive pieces of my life, and I’d be nowhere near as happy without them.
