Rising Stars: Meet Nah Lavishd of Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nah Lavishd.

Hi Nah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey really started with music, but over time it became much bigger than just being an artist. I’m from the Southside of Columbus, Ohio, and I started recording music in 2019. By 2021, I decided to take myself seriously as an artist and founded Top Tier Music Group. A lot of that drive came from losing my cousin and realizing that life is too short to keep putting off the things you know you’re meant to do.

In the beginning, I was learning everything as I went—recording, performing, branding, promoting myself, networking, and figuring out the business side of the industry. I didn’t come into this with a major label, a huge team, or someone handing me a blueprint. I had to build one. That process taught me how to bet on myself, even when other people couldn’t see the vision yet.

Since then, I’ve released my own projects, traveled to perform in different cities, competed in showcases, won multiple awards, built my own brand, and expanded Top Tier Music Group to work with artists internationally. Some of my proudest moments have been winning awards in Las Vegas, being recognized by Benzino as a “Next Up To Blow Up” artist, and continuing to create opportunities that I once wished someone would create for me.

More recently, my journey has expanded into acting as well. I booked my first film role as a lead actress in HEKA: The Power of a Legend, which pushed me into an entirely new creative space. Between music, acting, entrepreneurship, and building Top Tier, I’ve realized that I don’t want to put myself in one box.

I’m still building, and I actually think that’s one of the most important parts of my story. I’m not telling my story from the finish line. I’m telling it while I’m still becoming everything I envisioned. My goal is to build something that lasts beyond me and show other independent creatives that you don’t have to wait for someone to give you permission to start. Sometimes you have to create your own opportunity, build your own table, and keep going until people have no choice but to see what you’ve built.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of my biggest struggles has been learning how to keep going when the support, resources, and opportunities didn’t always match the size of my vision. Being an independent artist and entrepreneur means wearing a lot of hats. I’ve had to be the artist, the marketer, the creative director, the businesswoman, and sometimes my own biggest source of motivation.

There have also been personal losses, disappointments, financial challenges, changes in relationships, and moments where I questioned whether all the work I was putting in was actually going to pay off. I’ve experienced people not believing in me, business situations that taught me hard lessons, and the reality that everybody who starts with you won’t necessarily finish with you.

Another challenge has been balancing my everyday responsibilities with the life I’m building. There have been times when I’ve gone from working a regular job straight into the studio, rehearsing for a performance, handling business for Top Tier, or preparing for an acting role. Building your dream while still having real-life responsibilities requires a different level of discipline.

But I think the struggles have shaped me just as much as the accomplishments. I’ve learned how to adjust without giving up, how to separate rejection from my worth, and how to turn setbacks into information instead of allowing them to become stopping points. I’m still learning, but I’m much more resilient, intentional, and confident in who I am now.

The road hasn’t been smooth, but I don’t think my story would mean as much to me if it had been. Everything I’ve gone through has made me more prepared for where I’m trying to go.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work really lives at the intersection of music, entertainment, and entrepreneurship. As Nah Lavishd, I’m a recording artist, songwriter, performer, actress, and the founder and CEO of Top Tier Music Group. Musically, I specialize in Hip-Hop, R&B, and soulful trap. My music is confident and raw, but there’s always a real story behind it. Whether I’m talking about ambition, relationships, pain, growth, or simply having fun, I want people to feel like they’re getting a piece of who I actually am.

Top Tier Music Group represents the bigger vision. I didn’t want to only build Nah Lavishd—I wanted to create something that could help other artists build as well. I’ve worked with artists locally and internationally, including talent from South Africa, and I’ve learned how to take an idea from the creative stage into branding, marketing, content, performances, and overall artist development. I understand what it feels like to be an independent artist trying to figure everything out, so I want Top Tier to eventually become part of the infrastructure I wish I had when I started.

I’m probably most known for my personality and presence. I’m not afraid to be myself. Whether I’m performing, acting, creating content, networking, or handling business, you’re going to get Nah Lavishd. I can be funny and outspoken, but I’m also extremely observant and serious about what I’m building. I think that combination allows people to connect with me beyond just the music.

What I’m most proud of is my growth. Of course, the awards, performances, traveling, acting opportunities, and recognition mean a lot to me, but I’m even more proud that I kept expanding my vision. What started with me wanting to make music has grown into running my own company, helping develop other artists, stepping into acting, and building a name that can exist in multiple areas of entertainment.

What sets me apart is that I don’t look at myself as just the talent—I think like the talent and the owner. I care about the song and the performance, but I’m also thinking about the brand, the audience, the business, and what we can build from it long-term. I’m not interested in just having a moment. I’m building something that can create opportunities, open doors for other people, and eventually become a legacy. That’s what Top Tier means to me—it’s bigger than me.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is legacy, growth, and impact. I want the things I’m building to mean something beyond accomplishments, numbers, or recognition. Of course I want to be successful, but success means more to me when it creates opportunities for the people around me and leaves something behind that can continue to grow.

I care deeply about becoming the best version of myself. Every year, I want to be able to look back and see that I’ve grown—not only as an artist or businesswoman, but as a person. I’ve learned that growth sometimes requires losing people, changing your perspective, admitting when you’re wrong, starting over, and becoming uncomfortable. Those lessons have become just as important to me as the wins.

I also care about creating opportunities. A huge part of why I built Top Tier Music Group is because I know what it feels like to have talent and ambition but not always have access to the right resources or rooms. As I gain knowledge, relationships, and opportunities, I want to be able to reach back and help someone else move forward too.

Ultimately, I want my life to show that where you start doesn’t have to determine where you finish. I want people who come across Nah Lavishd or Top Tier to see somebody who kept betting on herself, kept evolving, and turned what she had into something bigger. It’s bigger than me—I’m building legacy.
