Rising Stars: Meet Dremel Tucker of Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dremel Tucker.

Hi Dremel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Dre Meezy (Dremel Tucker)
Drem On Productions
Dremel (DreMeezy) Tucker was born in the Funk Capital of the world, Dayton, Ohio which bread such acts as; Heatwave, Lakeside, The Ohio Players & Zapp.

Robert Tucker (father) was the lead singer & founder of The Sensational Voices of Faith, a local gospel group. The group would rehearse at the Tucker home several times a week . Being that Robert was sole owner of the musical equipment, Dre & his younger brother would sneak and experiment with the drums & guitars. The father took notice that the young boys had self taught themselves how to play the instruments. He later purchased guitars and drums of their very own.

In 1990, Dremel went off to Central State University to study Art & Design. He would receive a refund check each semester and began purchasing studio equipment and started Drēm On Productions.

In 1996, Dre signed a deal with rap label Tall Entertainment as an exclusive producer. During that time, he produced such acts as 275 & Rob Jackson. They had mild success nationally. The BET debut of 275s Move sumthing & Boom Boom Boom by Rob Jackson seemed very promising but wasn’t enough to advance them into superstars. The T.E. label inked deals with both WEA (Warner/Elektra/Atlantic) as well as JIVE. For a brief period, Drem On was signed to a production deal with HIT SQUAD. They produced songs on several national releases.

Drem On has produced and worked alongside platinum selling artist; Scarface (Rap-A-Lot/ Def Jam) Styles P of the Lox (Bad Boy/ Arista) & Zapp (Warner Bros.) EPMD/PMD (Hit Squad)They also produced the theme song for NFL Hall of Famer John Elways Colorado Crush (Arena Footbal League). Drem On produced the score & soundtrack to the film “Young Bread Gettas” and they also have music appearing in the film “MayDay” by Tannlyne productions

Dre Meezy recent releases include 3 Afrobeats songs: Waste No Time, BaeCation and Break Out, all from the up coming Album “Waves”.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been rocky. I’ve had a couple of national record placements but only mild success with those records. No real hits.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Singer/Songwriter/Producer.
I have written and produced for many local and national artist. I have appeared on countless hooks for many artist. I am most proud of having a song appear on BET. I am very proud of working with John Elway as well. I have 30 plus years producing professionally.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My Music Teacher from Elementary and High school Mr. LeRoi Hall taught me everything about song writing and song structure. He recently passed away this year. Another Mentor would be Moe Beats. He taught me everything I know about studio engineering mixing and mastering. He too has passed away. George Anderson and Djuan Johnson were the CEOs of Tall Entertainment, my first Record label. They taught me alot about the Record industry. Jose Estremera is my current Manager. I owe him a lot for keeping me fresh and current. He’s the owner of FaceLand Records which I’m currently a part of.
