Rising Stars: Meet Damien Kern of Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Damien Kern.

Hi Damien, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I moved here from Colorado two years ago battered and tired by the tough scene out there, and was welcomed by the community ive looked for my entire life. People can push boundaries here. Really mark art. There’s no pressurized box shaping your creation for you. Spaces like Dirty Dungarees and promoters like Esther are why those things are possible in this city.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some clubs want a follower count and the right BPM, some places want you to create something different and special. My biggest challenge was learning which wad which.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I joined the clowns here in Columbus and im a horror themed EDM circus act at Dirty Dungarees now. Our Clown Rave this year comes complete with real circus performers and even more clown music! I love the space dirty ds gives us to truly make our events something special. There really isn’t anywhere like it
