Meet Zack Slanker of Legacy Relief Project

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zack Slanker.

Zack Slanker

Hi Zack, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Barberton and raised in Ellet and Mogadore. Joined the Army Reserves as a junior in high school. After graduating high school, I worked in different fields in the local area while going to school part-time with no real idea as to what I wanted to accomplish with my life. 3 years after graduating high school, I found myself in the Kent state police academy, where I met a friend and mentor who explained what the Army Special Forces was and how I could apply myself to become a Green Beret. Which is what I did after graduating the academy. I earned my Beret in 2019 and have been on a team since the beginning of 2020. I loved the job, the skills, the opportunities, and the caliber of people I was surrounded with, but I wanted more. So as a partner, decided to start the Legacy Relief Project, which was an opportunity for us to use these skills to further God’s kingdom by applying the ability of guys in special operations to the safety and expansion of missionaries in high-threat countries. Due to our familiarity with working in such environment, we have the ability to mitigate a large portion of the risks associated with the environment missionaries have been called to work in.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Simply put, No. My rough roads have led to unimaginable personal growth that has forced me to constantly learn and adapt. I believe the only way people grow is through adversity.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Legacy Relief Project is a Christian-based non-profit that utilizes experience in special operations to perform risk management, solutions, networking, and logistics to further the impact of missions and humanitarian relief organizations in high-threat countries. We provide training to security teams, and local police abroad as well as develop new, local, if possible, sources of food and medicine procurement and distribution for partner organizations.

Legacy Relief Project empowers Christian organizations to advance Gods truth and light into the darkest, most hostile, and closed regions of the world. Built on a foundation of military special operations and intelligence expertise, LRP leverages this knowledge to free the oppressed and eliminate barriers that hinder humanitarian organizations from accomplishing their mission.

In addition, we perform rescues for victims of human trafficking and the reunification of those victims with family or foster family.

We specialize in best practices for keeping missionary teams safe in a given country based on cultural norms and societal constraints.

We are known for rescuing children who have been or have the potential of being trafficked as well as establishment of logistical lines to keep missions’ organizations operating.

What sets us apart from others is our ability to work in humanitarian spheres as well as governmental spheres. Our adaptation of abilities to meet current objectives and our assimilation with a populace of different cultures.

As a brand we are most proud of saving 36 children in our first year of operating.

We offer our services at no cost to the organization we are partnering with because a large majority of them would not be able to afford our services. This means we have to raise our own funds to be able to provide for these organizations. Our operators could work for government and private organizations making 3 to 4 times what they do in this line of work, but they all believe in what we are doing and want to be a light in a dark world.
