Meet Zach Martin

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Zach Martin.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve been making rugs for about a year now. It started off as just a hobby. My first rug I ever made was Marvin the Martian and I thought it would be a perfect first rug. I made an Etsy page and posted the rug with no intention on it selling. Not long after-SOLD! I thought this is awesome, I can sell my work and get paid for it.

Since the pandemic, I’ve had more free time now than ever. Rug making keeps me occupied and keeps my creative mind going.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I first started I thought what did I get myself into. The internet makes it seem like making the rugs are fairly easy. But like all things, there are plenty of problems you run into along the way. I have messed up plenty of rugs and lost a lot of time and money trying to perfect each rug. Rug making requires alot of patience! Everything takes time, but with time comes experience.

I can finish a rug in just a couple of days, where at the beginning it took me a week or two to complete a rug.

Not every rug is made the same- whether it’s different cloth that’s used, different backing, or even types of yarn. I’ve learned to do whatever works best for you and believe in the finished product.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about 2Morrows Rugs ?
I’m a one man gig who enjoys making rugs in my free time. I enjoy accepting custom orders and staying busy! I can take almost any image and make it into a rug. I’ve made rugs anywhere as small as 1 ft x 1 ft and as large as 8ft x 5 ft.

Most of my favorite rugs have been custom orders. I’ve made rugs anywhere from Looney Tune characters to Crypto images to dog portraits.

You can find my work on my Etsy page.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Spending the summer outside on a hot humid day while skateboarding with friends and listening to music. I would practice tricks over and over again until I had them down to a tee.

I’ve always had a creative side since I was a kid.  I used to make my own ramps out whatever I could find. You could catch me outside of my house skateboarding on any given day in the summer.
