Meet Rakhat Zhusupova of Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rakhat Zhusupova.

Hi Rakhat, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have loved filming for as long as I can remember. Long before brands and UGC, I just loved filming everything for myself – trips, mountains, little travel vlogs. I always had this quiet dream: one day, I will film for others. Then life got busy, and I dropped it for almost a year.
On maternity leave with my first baby, I felt I was becoming only a wife and a mom – and I didn’t want to lose myself. So I picked up my phone again and started filming at home. That’s how I found beauty and skincare UGC – a completely new world for me; honestly, I barely even used cosmetics before. It changed more than my work: creating content pushed me to take care of myself again after birth, at a time when so many moms at home 24/7 stop doing that.
With my husband’s support and a lot of learning, this became my main income from home. Today I work with brands I admire – and I’m still only at the beginning.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The beginning was hard. The beauty world was totally new to me – I was learning products, filming, and brand work all at the same time, in my second language. And my baby was tiny: there is no schedule with a newborn, so I film in short windows while he sleeps and edit whenever I can. But slowly, step by step, it started working. Now it is getting easier: my baby is growing, and I have more free time. Combining motherhood and work is always about discipline – my day around him, and still showing up for both.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I create UGC for beauty brands – honest reviews, demos, and aesthetic short videos. Filming is not just my job: it’s what I’ve loved since my travel-blog days – shooting, editing, making something beautiful out of an ordinary moment.
And I keep it honest: real skin, real daylight, my real opinion. I’m also a breastfeeding mom, so some products I film without putting them on my face – and I say that openly. Brands trust that honesty.

What makes you happy?
Simple things. My son’s smile in the morning. A quiet coffee while he naps. Filming a video and watching it come together in the edit. A kind message from a brand, or from someone who watched my video and felt better. I used to think happiness was a big moment waiting somewhere later. Now I know it is these small ones, every day.
