Today we’d like to introduce you to Holly Cox.
Hi Holly, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have been in the marketing, branding and web development industry for almost 2 decades, so when TikTok became a hub for starting businesses whether it be reselling a digital course or ebook and tangible products, selling your own digital work, getting monetized, all the programs that help you make money on the app… it fit perfectly with my career. All in one app.
I got involved in a Digital Marketing course a year ago called Ultimate Branding course that I’m an affiliate for and make money that way. (Becoming chronically sick right after joining as an Affiliate prolonged me starting the program.) Also… there are hundreds of brands and companies you can affiliate for to boost your income or get free gifts and PR. and it’s free. If they ask you to pay, it’s a scam.
My TikTok’s are tips about making money in the online space. I also do TikTok shop on and off where they send you free products, you do video ads for them and you get a commission on what you sell from your ad. I’m able to make a little money that way, as well. I also do UGC which is User Generated Content where a brand will pay you to make content for them and they often script it all out for you. It’s very easy.
I have gastroparesis (paralyzed stomach) and have been without a job for well over a year because of it. TikTok and online side hustles has saved my financials. I’ll be forever grateful for the online opportunities. And there are so many people like me just trying to support small business growth and create awareness of how it affects the economy. . I can’t say enough about it. If it weren’t for TikTok, I’d be in bad shape financial and probably mentally.
And what I do is just a minuscule pinch of what you can possibly do online to make money. But it’s not all about making money. Creators on social media are small business, small brands, small creatives trying to make it in the world…. We should be paying more attention to them and buying from them more often as the holidays are approaching. If you don’t have money to buy from small or local business or creators, there are many things you can still do to support your favorite brands. Engage, share, comment, save… everyone of those things will help a creator tremendously
One thing I see people doing wrong when starting a business is giving up easy. The Arc wasn’t built in a day and neither will your business. If you build it, they WONT come because they don’t know it exists…. and that’s where marketing comes in. Without a brand, there is no marketing, so that happens to be one of the biggest mistakes. The messy, inconsistent content that is just posted & ghosted will get no traction. This is where you have to watch your analytics or revamp your content creation as needed and keep going no matter if you only have one supporter. Just do it for you… no one else.
It is a joy to me to be able to help people like this at this point in time. There is so many ways to make money online and I’ve tried most of them. So it’s great to have the experience that I do to help others avoid mistakes and start building their business and income quickly and the thought of that makes me very happy. This is nothing like work to me… it’s just fun!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Yes and no. Yes, what I do is easy… but TikTok is so cluttered, it’s hard to find messages and collabs. It’s easy to miss a good brand collaboration invitation. So if I could change anything, I’d make it less cluttered and easy to find things.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in helping other build business, brands and help teach them how to market their service and products. I make sure brand standards have been set and clients stick to them.. brand standards and sticking to them creates recognition of your brand. They can see the colors, font, tagline or logo, they can instantly remember “oh that’s the one really funny girl that sells press on nails” without reading your name. You want them to recognize you with zero research. They should already know you!
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
If I could give advice to everyone I work with I’d tell them to not give up if they wholeheartedly believe in what they are doing. I would tell them to create structure and be consistent with everything as all algorithms LOVE consistency and reliability. It knows Suzy is going to post at 3pm and it’s ready to push it out to the viewers it needs.
