Maria Perme shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Maria, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: When was the last time you felt true joy?
My intention is to find a bit of joy each day, no matter what. From finding a new special place to capture moments, witnessing a breathtaking sunset/rise or moving my feet in a Salsa class, joy is there for the taking.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a photographer whose work is rooted in landscape and portrait photography, capturing the connection between people and the natural world. My landscapes highlight the quiet beauty and ever-changing moods of nature, while my portraits aim to reveal the essence of each person in front of the camera.
What makes my approach unique is blending these two worlds—using natural light and the depth and stillness of nature as a backdrop to human stories, or bringing a portrait-like intimacy into expansive landscapes.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My parents taught me the most about work. They both had stellar work ethics, and taught me the value of putting in an honest day’s work, the importance of sharing my God given talents with the world, learning from my mistakes and the power of perseverance.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You are enough. You are worthy. You don’t have to be perfect, do your best as your best IS good enough!
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. I am genuinely outgoing, extremely ‘real’ and love talking to just about every and anyone. I am curious, enjoy learning about people and cultures and helping people.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I am in nature; particularly near water or in the woods. There’s something settling about being near the flow of water, and/or the quietness of moving through a forest that brings me a sense of calm and balance.
