Life & Work with Zhane Dawlingz of Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zhane Dawlingz.

Hi Zhane, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Zhané Dawlingz is a dynamic entertainer, performer, pageant titleholder, fashion creative, and theatrical artist who has been captivating audiences throughout Columbus, Ohio’s nightclub and entertainment scene for 14 years.

Known for blending theatricality, fashion, pageantry, and pop culture, Zhané has built a career rooted in creativity, versatility, and a genuine love for entertaining. Her talents extend far beyond the stage, with a résumé that showcases her passion for fashion, musical theatre, and competitive pageantry.

In 2021, Zhané presented a 12-piece fashion collection at Columbus Fashion Week, bringing her creative vision to the runway. She later took her theatrical talents to the stage as Kathy in 9 to 5 at The Contemporary Theatre of Ohio, a production that became the theatre’s second-highest-grossing musical.

Her pageantry career has been equally remarkable. Zhané captured the title of Miss Continental 2024 on her very first attempt, marking a major milestone in her competitive career. She was also honored as the 2024 Stonewall Patron of Pride, recognizing her contributions to and involvement within her community.

A former Miss Platinum Gem City, Zhané made history as the 4th Double Platinum Queen, earning both the Newcomer and Miss division titles. She went on to compete at Miss International Queen USA, where she was named 1st Alternate while also winning both Evening Gown and National Costume.

Now, Zhané proudly reigns as Miss Gay Black Ohio 2026, representing one of the most historic Black pageantry systems in the country. Her journey reflects a performer who continues to push boundaries, celebrate individuality, and use every stage—whether it’s a nightclub, theatre, runway, or pageant—to leave an unforgettable impression.

From the stage to the runway, from pageantry to performance, Zhané Dawlingz is more than an entertainer—she is an experience.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say that within my lifetime it has been pretty smooth. I am very fortunate to have a great support system. My friends and my family are very helpful when I’m going through tough times and so I find it easy to lean on them when I need to.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My work is heavily revolving around entertainment, and the beauty industry. I would consider myself to be a triple threat, which means that I am able to sing dance and act and I also have been inducted into the international Thespian Society.

I am most proud of the fact that I am able to always rise to the occasion and meet the limitations that have been set up on me. I find that many people in inspire me just as much as I am inspired by them to always put my best foot forward and be my best person.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
A lot of my credit definitely goes to my friends and my family. Most importantly, my mother, she has played a major part in building me up to become a very confident and secure individual who is able to always face any challenge head on.
