Today we’d like to introduce you to Lake Yoga Lake Cycle.
Hi Lake Yoga, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Our yoga community has been part of Concord Township, Ohio, for eight years, spending the last four growing under the Lake Yoga name. What began as a yoga studio has evolved into a thoughtfully curated wellness destination serving Northeast Ohio.
Lake Yoga is built around the belief that yoga isn’t one-size-fits-all. Our programming reflects that philosophy, offering everything from powerful, heated practices to gentle, restorative experiences, along with specialty workshops and innovative movement formats. Our focus has always been on creating a space where students can explore, challenge themselves & find a practice that evolves alongside them.
In August 2026, we quite literally knocked down a wall to make room for our next chapter: Lake Cycle.
A brand-new concept for our area, Lake Cycle is a 24-bike, rhythm-based indoor cycling studio where music drives the movement. It’s an immersive, dark-room riding experience built around energy, connection & the power of moving together. While the experience is distinctly different from yoga, the attention to programming, instruction & community remains the same.
Today, Lake Yoga & Lake Cycle share more than a physical space. Together with our boutique, workshops & specialty events, we’re creating opportunities for people to discover new ways to move, connect & grow.
We share a front door, but we’re building two distinct communities with one heartbeat.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We don’t know that anyone who owns a small business would describe the journey as a smooth road, and we certainly wouldn’t.
Building a business rooted in people is incredibly rewarding, but it requires balancing the needs of our community, the expectations of our team, financial realities & our vision.
One of our greatest lessons has been that passion alone doesn’t sustain a business. It takes discipline, adaptability, difficult decisions & the willingness to continuously evolve.
Opening Lake Cycle introduced an entirely new level of complexity. We weren’t simply expanding our footprint; we were introducing a new fitness experience while protecting the culture our Lake Yoga community had come to expect.
Balancing the demands of two growing businesses has made prioritization, strong teams & thoughtful decision-making essential.
Perhaps the greatest lesson is accepting that growth isn’t linear. People change, circumstances shift & not every idea succeeds.
The goal isn’t to avoid challenges. It’s to build something strong enough to evolve through them without compromising what made it worth building in the first place.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Between the two of us, we bring more than 50 years of combined corporate experience to Lake Yoga & Lake Cycle. Our professional backgrounds span chemical engineering, organizational leadership, business strategy & even music. In many ways, our backgrounds are as diverse as the classes we offer.
We attribute much of our ability to envision, plan & ultimately execute to those experiences. We’ve always believed that passion alone isn’t enough to sustain a small business, just as business acumen without passion isn’t enough to make one meaningful.
What sets us apart is our ability to blend both. We approach our businesses with the discipline, structure & strategic thinking of our corporate careers, balanced with a genuine love for movement, creativity & community.
What we’re most proud of isn’t simply that we’ve built two distinct brands. It’s that we’ve created something intentional, sustainable & continually evolving without losing the personal connection that inspired it all.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
This question makes us smile because anyone who enters the small business world is taking a risk!
We took ownership of what is now Lake Yoga coming out of the pandemic, which was a leap of faith in itself. However, with more than 30 years of combined experience teaching in the fitness industry, we had some understanding of what we were getting into.
Lake Cycle was an entirely different adventure. We introduced something new to our area, knowing there were no guarantees, but believing there was a genuine opportunity.
We’re both calculated risk-takers. Our corporate backgrounds have taught us to plan carefully, but we also know that no amount of planning eliminates uncertainty.
We’ve always believed a business should offer something its community doesn’t already have. That philosophy is reflected in the details of both Lake Yoga & Lake Cycle, from the diversity and quality of our programming to our instructors, amenities & overall studio experience. We believe the combination of offerings we’ve created is unlike anything else in our immediate area, and that distinction is very intentional.
For us, taking risks isn’t about being fearless. It’s about being prepared, recognizing what’s missing & having the courage to create it.
