Life & Work with Ashley Pavy of Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Pavy.

Hi Ashley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
milk&honey coffeehouse started as an idea in 2017. In 2021, I purchased an espresso machine for my home and decided to start milk&honey as a mobile business. I catered my first wedding in December of 2022 and worked private events for two years (weddings, photography events, appreciate events, etc.). I took a break from doing pop up events for about 2 years. During that time and up until now, I have been open once a month at a furniture warehouse in West Chester. milk&honey is open to the public during this event each month. Beginning summer of 2026, I started advertising again for pop up events, and since then have set up at local businesses in the Cincinnati area and have begun booking weddings again.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely been a bumpy road, but I’m so grateful for the support from friends and family throughout the years. Being a business owner isn’t always the easiest, especially when juggling it with full time careers and other life events. Each step that milk&honey has taken has been very intentional and well thought out. There are a lot of logistics behind owning a mobile beverage service that can take a lot of time, money, and energy to organize.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I grew up a dancer. I went to arts school from my first day of elementary school all the way to my last day of college. I have a BFA in dance. I’ve always been surrounded by arts and creativity. I’ve used my dance background to become a fitness instructor. I love to bring creativity into coffee. Something I love about coffee is that, while it is a science, there is so much creativity that can be used. This includes syrups and flavoring, branding, choosing what cups and equipment to use, and much more. This is all to enhance the experience the customer has.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I love to frequent other local coffee shops. I’d say that is one of my biggest resources. I enjoy finding little nuances of each place and evaluating how that makes me feel as a customer. Not only does this help me as a business owner, if helps me mental and emotional state. Being in coffee shops brings me a lot of piece. I can choose to either sit and relax, bring a knitting project or book, chat with friends, or bring work with me to make a it a productive time.

I use the Libby app frequently to listen to audio books while working and do more mundane tasks. One of my recent favorite listens was the book Educated by Tara Westover. I love learning about other peoples’ life experiences and how that has shaped them into the person they are today.
