Inspiring Conversations with Jamil Bey of Black Wallstreet Empire

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamil Bey.

Hi Jamil, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My entrepreneurship story is lifelong Hustler I went from illegal hustling to Legal hustling was shot at 16 years old and confined to a wheelchair had years of trauma and struggle after maturing past the trauma to a certain degree I started selling movies and CDs back in the city and movie era I transitioned that into legal hustle after learning and studying business reading books like business law CC codes I took I was really fascinated with learning business public and private business laws commercial laws I started learning how to do credit fix my credit and then utilize the money after the credit to start a business after starting the business I can bind all those skills with branding my main focus is taking products that I sell in the street and branding them into a strong presence online and growing my digital real estate

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There’s a lot of obstacles in business built in from a sales perspective when you are the one initiating sales participating in sales dealing with the public everyday especially in Cleveland Ohio you know Cleveland is a real Road City so you got to deal with a lot of attitudes a lot of rude people another be mentally strong to look past that been in a wheelchair is always a challenge because and doing anything in a wheelchair kind of mess with your timing issues because it takes usually takes longer to do things then it would if you was walking and of course it’s a lot harder being that you have to utilize the chair makes everything that you do physically 10 times harder economically is always a challenge to grow a business you know I have several brands and I want to grow them past Street sales have an entire audience to come familiar with them so that requires financing because branding requires advertisements advertising marketing and marketing of course is expensive or could be expensive to a certain degree so as a business owner I’m always searching for financing I’m always in the process of leveraging my credit to get the right type of financing to grow the company trying to satisfy customers with the brands could be a struggle sometime to keep customer satisfied I wouldn’t say it’s super struggle because if you interact and observe customer to tell you what’s a good product how good it is but where the struggle comes in at is creating brands before Market exposure that will be satisfied well satisfied to the customer just small struggles

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Finding mentors in business I believe is kind of hard most of the time when you want helping business you have to pay for it there’s companies out here like that SBA Urban League but most of the time they don’t really give you much assistance they’ll try to send you in the direction of help mentorship usually will come from someone who you know who respect you and is willing to invest their time into you or something you’ll probably just grab a consultation to pay for it that’s usually the easiest way most of the time people don’t like to invest their time into someone without something in return networking is something that’s a lot more easier usually when you change your thinking you gravitate towards people that have like Minds there’s also always usually events going on business wise places at least within my city you can find advertisements online classified ads Facebook you can pretty much scroll Google to look for networking opportunities Facebook groups Etc or just put yourself in a circle full of entrepreneurs who share information and event information
